levelling ground after discing??

I'd look to be levelling WHILE discing as opposed to AFTER discing. That said, I alway pull an old fashioned spike tooth harrow behind the disc, OR, in the case of my 12' wheel disc, a section of railroad rail attached at each end with a heavy piece of chain. On that 12' disc, I use a rail that's about 14' long. (Just a bit wider than the disc.) Under harsh conditions, or while at a decent speed, a wooden pallet would break into a zillion little pieces. Just not practical for use on a large scale or for hard use......

Cultipackers were mentioned. They're best used AFTER the soil is relatively smooth. They don't do so much to level as the do to firm an already level seedbed.

I mounted a small harrow behind my disk and it works very well.

You da man deere755! What a great idea. No permanent modification of the disc frame, it would lift and would not interfer with backing up, and it is just what I was looking for. Cheap too, which is icing on the cake. My tractor is much larger, so I can envision using a single piece of railroad rail or something similar to really smooth out things. Your attachment design is what I was lacking. Pretty cool. I forsee a trip to the steel salvage yard to collect parts. You could also flip it up and have it attached to the top of the disc to add weight. Thanks for a clever idea.

Glad I could help out. If I was to do it all over again I would have made it so it was 2 foot bigger then the disk so I could have a foot sticking out on each side instead of the 6 inches I made it. Second I would made a 3 bar harrow instead of the 2 bar. I have all the stuff to make it a 3 bar but I just have not done it yet.
