I don't know why, but I thought someone put a post on here about the polebarn they built.

It was actually more like a "garage", approx. 2 to 2 and a half car garage.

But what interested me was the material cost- which was just over $2000.00.

Does anyone remember who (or where) did that post?

It could have been up to 2 years ago (unfortunately).

Anyways, I would like to repeat what he did if possible for that price.

Thanks in advance for any help with locating the post.

2K? Hmmm... Poles, metal siding and roofing... Lean To Design No floor (dirt) Maybe 2K...

I have one, I think the kit cost the previous owner like 12K with roofing, no siding, no doors, no floor (cover for a 5th wheel).

Hear is a link to a pole building builder in my area that includes some erected prices. Obviously building codes and labor rates vary around the country so you need to check suppliers in your area.

Woodlandfarms, no, I distinctly remember just over 2K, and fully enclosed. Whoever it was, he did all the labor.

Man! I wish I would have bookmarked that. Getting slow in my old age.

When you find it let me know. 2K for storage is brilliant. Heck, you can't get a used cargo container...

The only one I remember is Fourteen's Morton building. That was a sweet garage but I'm sure it was waaaaaay over 2K.

I am in the middle of building a two story storage and workshop with an attached RV shed. In material cost alone I have about $8,000 in it so far including the concrete foundation. When finished I am expecting $12K. Good luck with anything of any size for $2K. My workshop is 14 x 34 and the RV roof is 20 x 42.

Da Bear, aren't you being a bit too brave by putting your trailer in there unfinished? One dropped hammer.....

But it looks really nice. Whats the deal with the two story shop/office?

Have you done some searches?

Yes, I have, but I must not be using the right search info.

Da bear, nice job!

MR, I posted this same message on "Projects" and "Build it yourself", but I don't see my Thread/Post on either one of those. Is there some reason a moderator would have not let them post, or not go through?

I know you guys think I am nuts or off my rocker, but I am sure it was what I saw, just over 2K. That is why it has stuck in my mind for so long.

Btw, I have not had a drink since I was 19 years old, and have never done drugs! (Though I am a King James Bible believer, and many people think that is a reason to put me in a rubber room ;-)

I am just running numbers in my head... I see you could build the general structure for 2K (assuming you have the post hole digger). Trusses are expensive either way (Buying them or building them yourself). You could do a lean to type that would greatly reduce your wood needs. This i could see for 2K...

But, doors and windows would be the killer. I guess you could build sliding doors for the garage cheaper than rollups...

Again, the only way I see you building at this price is as a lean to, and keeping the roofing and wall materials as cheap as possible (corrugated metal roof, and cheap mobile home style siding sheets).

But you can make a great looking lean to.. Make them pretty nice if you try...

Here is a 2K build

Yeah, it does sound like I am dreaming. But if I were a betting man, I would bet on what I saw on here somewhere (or what I "thought" I saw).

I looked at the "lean to" before, nice job, and quick, but I am holding out for a while to see if the post can be found.

Maybe I misread it, from what everyone has posted up to this point. But I don't think so. Just have this nagging memory of it, and why it stood out so much.

Dear Idabe,

Lumber is certainly cheaper in your neck of the woods than mine, but I would think it would be difficult to buy the lumber for a decent sized pole barn for $2k.

Locally, the metal roof panels are about $1/sq. ft., so I'd be at $2k, just for roofing. But of course, YMMV...

All the best,

Peter

I made the two story so I had something to tie the RV shed roof into. Otherwise I would have had a fairly tall one story. I will probably use the top floor for my dog house since I have electricity, water, sewer, alarm, cable TV, and phone service to the shop.

Over in the moderators area your posts were reported as duplicate posts by the members of TBN and some were removed. The reasoning is it is too hard for the members to follow multiple threads on the same subject. If you would like, I can move this post to another forum where you might get more hits and leave a link here to it. Just let me know.

EXACTLY! I'm Not Crazy After All! (How did I miss this when I was searching?)

Shoot! I lost $20.00 on a bet that you were, indeed, cuckoo!!! :p

Glad you found it. Let us know the prices. ;)

No. This is fine. Another "moderator" sent me a private message before you made your post, so as you reiterated above, I understand now why they (the other posts) were removed.
Thanks.
