Anybody else out there own RTV500's besides me and 737?...

Give us some updates on the idle rattle, did you add any accessories or increase the power?

Give us you opinions on this machine.

I have the 500, added a mirror and work light. I have 50 hrs. on it and no rattle noise, but I do get a "Klunk noise" when I put it in four wheel drive??
First pic the mirror is hard to see. I purchased longer bolts for the ROP's frame brackets.

That 4wd clunk is normal, I think. Probably just the differental locking in.

Ok, I got one too. Had it for 3 weeks now and love it. Just what I need for running around the campground and woods.
I also need a mirror. My mother just bought a Club Car and they put some kink of panoramic, sectioned mirror in it that
is slick. I might get one of those and make it fit.

Does your lower windsheld rub on the hood?..I put a cloth shim under mine to prevent that. The windshield rattled like crazy too. Stuffed rubber bumbers where the steel frame was near the rollbar, quieted that down quite a bit.

I like mine too, just wish that rattle wasn't there and it had a little more high range power. Low range is great, runs out of traction before running out of power.

My lower windshield has a rubber slide on piece on it where it sits on the hood. I haven't noticed a rattle anywhere on the windshield. Maybe they changed it?

I have the rubber on mine too. I just didn't like the way it vibrated on the paint, that's why I shimmed it up. I should have sprung for the camo coating, wouldn't need to worry about it, if I really need to worry about it.

The 4WD clunk is semi-loud but it is normal (front differential engaging).

It appears you and 737pilot are the only people with this idle rattle/noise. I have never heard this noise. Maybe 737pilot will get it fixed by his dealership now that he has taken it in for its 1st service.

Haven't heard from him in a while, hopefully he has an answer. The tech heard mine, said it was normal (don't believe that but...) it seems like he turned the idle up a little. That didn't help either.

Quick question. If you are running in high range at high speed, mainly downhill, and let off the gas completely. Do you hear a really loud clicking sound coming from the tranny until the machine slows down?. Don't know if this is normal, sure doesn't sound like it to me. Just want to make sure that others have this as well. Thanks.

Ok, I take it back. I noticed the lower windshield rattling against the hood at idle today.

Have you run yours at high speed in high range and let off of the gas, down hill?. If so do you get that clicking noise until it slows down. Just want to see if others have this, and it's normal?

Has anyone purchased an after market vinyl full cab enclosure? Thoughts etc.

I'm taking delivery of an RTV 500 tomorrow. Have been teetering on the edge of buying a Rhino for a year. After comparing specs, prices, and taking into account 60 months with 0% financing......The decision is made.

It does seem quite a bit more robustly built than the Rhino or Mule.

Rick,

Let me know what you think once you buzz it around...I think you'll like it.

Delivered with 0.5 hours on it. Iv'e worked it up to 1.9 hrs. I don't really have anything to compare it to since I've never owned an ATV/UTV. (What the heck doe RTV stand for anyway?). It has ATV tires which they will be switching out for worksite tires.

I previously tested a Rhino and an EZ-GO. The EZ-GO is meant for light duty, and had an air-cooled 1 banger. Still, the going price was $6,500. The Rhino was fast and appeared to be well built. The ground clearance was great, but you're still talking about a carb'd, single cylinder engine. It was at the top of my list.

The Kubota appears to be more "tool" than "toy". It is ruggedly built and utilitarian in design. The worst initial feature is ground clearance, but since it's a "tool" rather than an off-road "toy", I'm OK with that. A higher top end speed would be nice (based on a test ride/No wide open throttle during break-in), but again, it's a compromise.

The HST drive is unique, and will take getting used to. But it's been around in various forms for decades in heavy equipment, and I think Kubota has got a good handle on it for their small tractors. I'm looking forward to testing it out a little more thoroughly after break-in.

I'd say the best features are the simple rugged frame, injected, water cooled 2-banger, and 0% for 60 months....That's just crazy :D

By the way, I'm a big synthetic oil fan. Anybody running Mobil-1 (10-30) in theirs?

As far as the RTV.I think it was Kubota changing the name to create a new name...Branding ya know. When someone says RTV, you know exactly what brand and type that they are referring to.... I agree that it is well built, looks like it can take some serious abuse. I also wish it had more top end, maybe they will up the HP going forward.

I looked at some of the other brands and wasn't overly thrilled with the construction.

Ground clearance is somewhat limited, but it has not caused me any grief at all since I got it. If it does, I'm probably doing something I shouldnt be doing with it :D

Just curious, why are you going with the worksite tires?..Are you running on pavement?

I might put mobile-1 in this. In the tractor I use Kubota 10W-30. That diesel though.

Just had my 500 dropped off today with .5 hrs on it. The dealer offered me one with 3 hrs for $100 less but I passed. I got the atv tires front bumper and canopy. also wanted the speedo but not in stock. they will pick it up later next week when they get the speedo and do the install. First time owner of a vehicle like this so not sure what to expect. I was looking at a ranger but for the price and 60 months at zero I had to go with the bota. Looks real nice next to the b3200. Maybe I should shoot my hustler bota orange to match lol.

I did notice a burning smell like brakes but not quite and some smoke coming off the engine area when i raised the dump bed. Is this normal for a brake in on the 500?

I don't think top end is limited by the HP. It's governed. I think the HP is there but there must be some type of OSHA rule or regulation.

I'll have some pavement use, but mostly it'll be on cut grass/pasture/planted pine rows. The ATV tires are unneccessary and provide a rougher ride.

I try to run Synthetic in everything. My tractor gets Mobil-1 10/30 and it looks like the RTV 500 can use it too. Mobil-1 is to oil like Kubota is to tractors.

NRA4EVER: Burning smell is probably normal. New paint/oil/grease burning off. Mine smells the same. Check the fluid levels though just in case.

I agree with you on that...Just need someone to figure out a way to get around it...There has to be more RPM's there as well...
