LS has opened a distribution center in NC. I believe they are in the process of signing up dealers and I heard they are already supplying LS parts to dealers.

Acer, LS is trying to sign up dealers, not having 100% success with former farmtrac dealers.their paperwork and prices leave a lot to be desired. we'll see how it plays out.information was put out today that Montana had signed an agreement with Branson, wonder how that is going to affect their LS line? the more things change the more it stays the same. They all want to party on the dealers dime.and long as dealers pay the tab and take all the risk, there is no incentive to change the way big boys view dealers.

Taxpayer:rolleyes:;)

Hello, all!

Remember last week's posting when I was pimping the retailers? Well... here's an auto retailer who shares a similar opinion.

But the dealers countered that they, not the auto companies, had always borne the expense of doing business. "We are not a cost to Chrysler," Russell Whatley of Mineral Wells told the committee. "No dealership is a cost to Chrysler. We pay for everything we use and we take all the risk. We are Chrysler's customer. In a typical month, we pay Chrysler over $2,500 in fixed expenses alone, plus all the parts and the vehicles which are paid for in full and up front."[/QUOTE]
Sound familiar?
Sound equitable?

Riddle me this:
Why should the Senate get involved with auto dealers and not tractor/implement dealers?
Why should dealers sign one-sided contracts with vendors/manuafcturers--especially in such volatile times?

Actually Blueliner, dealers should not sign one-sided contracts, a contract should be a document designed to accomodate all parties and not an edict from one party over the other, labor unions would never accept such a contract. but dealers, especially farm equipment dealers have a sometimes fatal flaw,THEY ARE HONEST!and they assume those they do business with are also, so the dealers don't always read the fine print, but rather tend to believe promises made to them.one can only hope that bad experiences in the past will result in better judgement in the future.

on another note: there is scuttlebutt about a Montana-Kukji (parent co of Branson)deal giving Montana a controling interest .price tag somewhere around 40 mil. anybody hear anything on this??must have been a heck of a profit in the farmtrac takeover if true or maybe a sugar daddy somewhere in the shadows.wonder what that will do to the Montana-LS relationship??
Bet ol Redneck can scope it out.

MONTANA TRACTORS AND
KUKJE / BRANSON
SIGN LETTER OF INTENT

Parties exploring partnership in North American tractor market

June 5, 2009
Saewook Chang, Vice President of Dongkuk Steel Mill Co., Ltd, parent of Kukje Machinery Co., Ltd and Branson Tractors, Inc., and Ted Wade, Vice Chairman & Co-owner of Montana Tractors, LLC, announced the signing of a letter of intent for potential joint venture including the merger of Branson Tractors and Montana Tractors to form a North American entity to distribute farm tractors in North America. Mr. Chang and Mr. Wade met this past week in Seoul, and after a tour of Kukje Machinery's tractor production facility and a meeting with its executive team, executed the letter of intent. The potential joint venture is expected to be a more powerful player in North American tractor market in coming years by consolidating distribution-based Montana and manufacturing-based Branson. By forming joint forces through extensive dealership networks of both companies, the new entity will be a strong competitor to other players in North America.

I would be concerned about signing any kind of binding agreement with any tractor MFG or distribution outlet depending on korean production given the news coming out over there at this time.
SEOUL, South Korea North Korea said Tuesday it would use nuclear weapons in a "merciless offensive" if provoked its latest bellicose rhetoric apparently aimed at deterring any international punishment for its recent atomic test blast.

Pyongyang raised tensions a notch by reviving its rhetoric in a commentary in the state-run Minju Joson newspaper Tuesday.

"Our nuclear deterrent will be a strong defensive means ... as well as a merciless offensive means to deal a just retaliatory strike to those who touch the country's dignity and sovereignty even a bit," said the commentary, carried by the official Korean Central News Agency.

KUKJI's parent business is steel mills and anyone old enough to remember wwII knows what happens when a country goes to a allout war, which the use of nukes will surely trigger.steel production is divirted to making war machinery.if the tractor MFGS can't get steel,it is unlikely that any shipping of parts and tractors to the USA will occur.I think I'll just wait and see what happens before I sign with any company, if at all.

Don't we have some steel mills in the good ole USA that could build tractor parts and car factories that could assembly them together to make tractors----If we need jobs why not build a tractor here in the USA ------from iron ore and rubber to the finished product----not take those assemblies out of several containers, from overseas, and assembly them in Georgia and call them American made---why can't we "BUILD" a complete product right here in some of those excess car factories----Oh wait they will not be cheap!!!!----so the importer will not make all the profit---but the working man will have a good paying job----just like those working in the foreign car factories right here in the USA----FIAT TRACTORS BEING MADE IN A CHRYSLER PLANT NEAR YOU!!!!----they got to get their 5-----B---i---l--l-ion from somewhere---why not the government right here in the U---S---A--- I did spell that right???---or is it spelled CH____???????? Who owns the BANK!!!!---we can still make red, blue, green, yellow and orange paint here too!!!!????---Fewer Dealers Higher Prices---but what they forget is that old tractors last alot longer than cars!!!!!!

It looks like Montana and LS are spliting up, no more parts and support for the LS models. hope Montana dealers don't have to deal with some of the same parts problems that have plagued farmtrac dealers for the last year & a half.enough of this uncertainly.

My local Farmtrac dealer had 13 tractors 2 weeks ago, is down to 8 now. The LS built tractors on the lot seem to be holding up (paint, seats, hoses, etc.) much better than the Escorts machines. All have been on the lot since mid to late 2007.

Wow, all of the remaining FT's disappeared since Thursday evening. Repo'd, sold, taken to auction, transferred, donated to charity???

what kind of steak sauce are you using???????-----or is it what bar do they belong to-----------those darn lawyers and them there gag orders??????----somebody is lawyered up!!!!!

/ FarmTrac Troubles #1,856
Hey Red can you translate that sekrit code for us laymen? :D

what in lawyer English????----all the dealers involved in the lawsuit--s-s can't comment on anything going on and all the dealers that have settled had to sign confidentiality agreements----those with the gold control free speech in the USA----some of the dealers seem to have short memories and are jumping right back in bed (steak sauce)with other finance companies that have worst contracts than Textron had when Farm Trac ran their scam with Textrons help-----when you use lawyer english you tend to make people mad because you are exposing them for what they really are ----GREEDY!!!!----COOKE AT TWO RIVERS TRACTOR IS/WAS (has he settled yet) PACKING THE LOAD FOR ALOT OF DEALERS THAT WANTED TO COMPLAIN ON ONE HAND BUT PLAY FOOTSIES WITH TEXTRON ET AL AND NOT DRAW ATTENTION TO THEMSELVES----HAVE THEIR CAKE AND EAT IT TOO(steak)!!!!-----one day the whole truth will come out but not in the short term------just more lying going on!----look what has happened in the coke/Pepsi business model---only a few independent bottlers left in the business----same thing in many other consumer products industries----BUT A TRACTOR HAS A LONGER SHELF LIFE THAN A LOAF OF BREAD-----We hope the tractor will last for twenty to thirty years without someelse having to work on it-----the only way that happens is if you leave it in the shed, wax it every two weeks and never use it outside----Only those red/green/orange/blue/yellow/pink/purple tractor mfg's have figured out how to sell tractors without no parts support and no tech's that have the ability to repair them at a REASONABLE PRICE-looking at buying a herd of goats to cut my grass but I can't find the switch to turn them off when they get all the grass cut----they still want to eat---!!!! Problems Problems!:)

I wonder if LS is going to still insist that dealers accept GE floor planning, even after the SEC slapped GE with a 50mil fine for fraud. if you lie with dogs , you'll wind up with fleas.better smarten up LS!

Taxpayer

nope ----bet they will take cash (China currency only) money for 10 tractors purchased at one time!!!------
Fraud????-----didn't the government give GE 139 Billion dollars so that they can pay the 50 million dollar fine????------
They are still in business and we are ----
where is our bailout------
just a level playing field would be a big improvement!!!!
they sell flea powder and collars at the local feed store------
it is the business model that they really want to change--look what JD and a few other long lines are doing to their small dealers---just like the small car dealers---they are taking those small profitable customer driven dealers out of business so that down the line they can convert all the dealerships to megadealers----just like coke and pepsi has done with their independent bottlers----
you can buy all the tractors and equipment you want for cash money---but if you had that much cash money why would you want to be in the tractor business---Boats are more fun!!!!-----same game different names------floor plan it sell it before it comes due---order more-- sell/give it away--- before it comes due and repeat the cycle every year---I now understand why I like the used tractor auction scene compared to those cooperate meetings:D
I do miss the trips and cruises that the dealers get when they give away enough tractors and equipment---I wonder how much those trips really cost in lost profits and fun!!!!----
been to North Korea lately?????---they are not but a few miles north of the tractor factories in South Korea!!!!------
bet my old buddy from HOPE has the answer!!!!!!

I'm with you Red, I'm working the auction scene now and loving it;). actually getting to put a little cash in the old jeans instead of sending it to some fatcat in a highrise in GA.might get to take that cruise down the Red River yet.CONSIGNMENT LS CONSIGNMENT!! or wave when me, Red and Blue go sailing by.:D:D
