None yet
Newbie to TractorByNet (TBN). I have many questions to ask but before I can have an intelligent dialog with the forum, I need to be brought up to date with the acronym jargon. I searched the FAQ section but found no information for the meaning of the acronyms used here. I know a few of them (MMM=midmount mower, KB=Kubota, JD=John Deere) but could someone post what the most commonly used acronyms are and their meanings?

Thank you

FEL = front end loader
BH = Back hoe
3PH = three point hitch

I'm sure there are many others but they don't come to mind.

CUT = Compact Utility Tractor
SCUT = Sub Compact Utility Tractor
PHD = Post Hole Digger. (driller?)

Then, of course, there are some funny ones.

CRS = Can't Remember Stuff (Substitute your favorite word that starts with S)
RTFM = Read The F... Manual.

You get the idea. Years ago, my co-workers and I would have contests to come up with acronyms for things. I've got hundreds of them.

FIL = father inlaw
Never seen MIL used but it probably has been.
SWMBO = (Swimbo) She Who Must Be Obeyed = Wife
3PH = TPH
DOG = dog (with caps lock on) :D

don't feel badly, there is a learning curve to every website that addresses specific subjects.....

i still have trouble with some

Yeah I agree their is a learning curve. I did learn alot just in all the parts of the tractors and equipment. If you have spent anytime in the military you know how the acronym game is played, and just when you learn the rules they all change.
Hooah! HooRah! Sempi Phi! AimHigh! Army of One!

I vote that we discontinue the use of acronyms altogether. In fact, in grad school, I started the American Society for Prevention of Acronyms, called it ASPA for short. Never could figure why I didn't get more takers....

One that took me a while to figure out was OP...

Mainly used when a thread covers everything under the sun but the OP's question. (original poster's) :p

Alot of the acronyms can be googled, maybe not the tractor specific ones, but he general ones can be looked up

I had to google that SWMBO one when I first saw it :D

A funny one I remember from doing an environmental remediation project was "LUST" :eek: Leaking Underground Storage Tank.
