We have been without power since Tuesday the 27th and they are saying that it may be 4 to 6 weeks before the co-op gets things up here in the hills.

Just when I thought I was getting ahead, this hit.

Gee, must have a generator if you are on line! Looks like lots of cleanup to be done. Around here we had a little ice storm but only lost power for about a week or so.

Enjoyed the pictures, thanks for posting them. Looks like Mother Nature wins another one.

hbarski, Sorry to see your plight... Looks like you will have more work ahead of you come spring, Also looks like you lost a window in the sunroom/porch.. not fun stuff for sure...

Two years ago we had an ice storm through the night resulting in the same thing, So I know how much fun it isn't cleaning up the piece's of your used to be pretty trees...:( I went out the next morning to hear all the popping & snapping of trees all around the area...

Hopefully you will get your power back on sooner than expected...

Hang in there. Once this is cleaned up and awhile goes by you'll really enjoy talking about it. Believe me, I know.

2 years ago we had an ice storm in November. It took down every power line in the eastern half of South Dakota. I drive 16 miles to work and every single power pole was broken off. We were without power for 17 days. To top it all off, the day after the big ice storm the temperatures dropped to below zero F. temperatures and stayed there for over a week. We survived and now are stronger, better people for it. Just stick together with your neighbors and help each other out and you'll all make it just fine.

Power was off 1 morning for 5 hours.
Ice broke about 10 2 3 &4 inch limbs / branches off one of my big tall pine trees.
No damage as the branches\limbs fell harmlessly to the ground at the base of the tree.
A little seat time saved up for this spring.

Sorry to hear about your power, sure hope they can get it back before 4 to 6 weeks, and sure hope you had back up heat for your house.

Be safe during your cleanup.

The good thing is that it is our weekend, soon to be, retirement home. I have the best and the closest of neighbors. We all care for each other. I have two generators and immediately setup one on my neighbors home. I got him and his wife back to a "liveable" situation. We all have supplemental LP plank heaters. The big problem was water, or the lack thereof. It is hard to flush toilets when you have to catch melting ice/snow from the roof. With the generators, we are able to get the wells running again.

It was really strange to see a blade of grass that was surrounded by an 1 1/2" coating of ice. It sounded like a war going on when the limbs and trees started to fall.

Good thing that I setup the tractor with a grapple.

Well at least you have a positive attitude towards it...That is good to hear :)

Good to have great neighbors and to be a great neighbor also...
