Tractor
Long 350
I just bought a 4 year old, 330 hour, M6800HD, with 1162 FEL, and a 7' Box blade (with Hydraulic rippers), delivered to my house for $18,000.:D

I had been searching for a tractor all last year. This is slightly more tractor than I needed, but I couldn't pass up the opportunity.

That is one fine deal on a great tractor - congratulations. Luck favors the prepared mind - all the searching paid off by knowing when to pounce.

Congratulations! Very nice machine. That box blade with hydraulic rippers sounds pretty slick. Definitely want to see some pictures!

There are a lot more than you might think. They just don't have time to post 24/7.

The quick explanation behind this purchase: A builder who was running short on cash because of the "Credit Freeze" needed to raise some cash. He liquidated a few pieces of equipment. I just happened to be in the right place at the right time.

I have been looking to replace my 1974 Long 350 2WD for some time. So I have mostly been lurking on the board soaking up opinions.

My primary plan for the tractor is to work 150 Acres of reclaimed strip mine property in Kentucky. I will use it to maintain the 1/2 mile gravel road and eventually replant the forest with hardwoods. Hopefully that will turn into a good inheritance for my kids.

FWIW, I just did a complete Hydraulic service (Kubota UDT costs $87 per 5 gal vs. $135 for Super UDT). The book says the quantity should be 11.2 gallons, but it only drained 10 gallons. I'm assuming the other gallon was trapped in the lines somewhere?

Remember when I said: "It's a little more tractor than I needed"?

It took me a while but I think I'm in the right size machine now.

I managed to trade down to a 2001 L3710 GST with LA 681 loader. Quick attach bucket and pallet forks. Just 500 hours on it, and been stored inside it's whole life.

After the haggling was done, I'm into this machine for about $9500.

Now, of course, I'm reconsidering if I shouldn't have gone for a Grand L...

That specific tractor is a really nice one, assuming it is the same one that I looked at. I was moving up from an L3010, but couldn't get myself to go away from the HST, so I got a L5740. The M6800 is one strong tractor, and so is that loader. I wish I could get my hands on a box blade like you got too.

I believe we are speaking of the same M6800. Small world sometimes isn't it?

If your email address matches your screen name; then you and I have spoken.
Back in June, we traded some pics, but couldn't come to a deal. You were committed to the HST.

I still have the big box blade, but have a potential buyer set up on it already. I'll let you know if that deal falls through.

Take care.
