3520 CAB
I have my JD 790 exactly how I want it except it gets really cold on an open platform when snow plowing. I was looking into a Sims cab but the dealer convinced me that the factory cab was a lot nicer so I had him price a loaded 3720 with cab (CC, TNT, PB, diverter, 3rd control hard lines, tooth bar, HD bucket... I think everything except mid PTO and the air seat), 300CX FEL and 72" BB. I was shocked that it came out to $40,260. I didn't realize all that was added for shipping and dealer prep. This was his second attempt and was almost $4000 lower than the first quote. I guess I'm sticking with my 790. That's way too much to me for a cab and hydro --- I don't need the HP and the bigger size is actually a negative. After using the configurator and seeing talk here of 15% discounts over that I was pretty surprised.

Probably saved me a lot of money because if I need a cab I can get a Sims for less than $3000. Not as nice but it should keep the snow off of me.

WOW... I bought a Delux Cab 3720 this summer.... Came with Radio mount, auto cruise, 72" HD bucket, Air Seat, Mid PTO, 300CX, large R-4's, 3rd scv, and delux brush guard. I got that for just under 33,000 out the door. I do not have the top n tilt or diverter... But .... whew.....

The frontier medium duty Box blade was $1775, the 3rd function hard lines and tooth bar $700, the TNT $900, a radio for $360 and weights for about $600, PB for $300, and the diverter was $1150. Adds up to about $5800 minus your R4s (this was with R1s), Air Seat, mid PTO and deluxe brush guard. It looks like this dealer is high or the prices have gone up several $1000. At $33K it would have been a little closer to a deal if I could get a reasonable price for my 790.

Yes, But on top of that deal, He took my other 3720 in on trade for 22,000. That was 500 less than I paid for it the year prior. So you add those two together and you dealer is really high. PM if you want, I can give you the dealers name. He might be able to give you a quote you could take to your dealer and ask why. Another deler closer to me was off on that deal by over 7K. I also ordered mine, so it was not sitting on his lot ready to go...

Unfortunately $40,000 is a lot of money for me. I can dress warm or get that cab.

He also only offered me $11,000 for my 1 year old, 70 hour 790 with landpride BB, toolbox, 300 loader, HD bucket, JD toothbar, TNT, front hydraulics, filled tires, canopy, rear light, front lights on canopy, Power Beyond, and hood guard. I was keeping the front blade to use with the 3720.

Appreciate the offer to get your dealers name but I don't think I can justify it right now even if it was a lot less. I'll see if I get a bonus this year and keep looking for a used one.

Very high - sounds like that dealer is trying to fix their own economic situation on a sale by sale basis.

Why don't you have the dealer quote a 3320 or a 3520 cab?

$40.000 is a lot of money. I traded in my 4100hst with a 410 loader and 60" mmm. I got $10,500 for mine. Plus I sold a Honda st1300abs that had low miles. I've found that I have more fun on the tractor than I ever did on the motorcycle, mainly because I'm able to relax, maybe drink a beer or two, and not have to worry about getting run over. Makes my wife happy. Any way $11,000 seems low to me and the $40,000 seems high, but I don't live in your area either. It just seems like you've got a lot of opinions on your rig that the dealer isn't considering. Either way thats a nice tractor you got. I almost bought one years ago but decided to go with the 4100hst because of the amount of mowing I do. Cheers.

I live at 8600 feet so I want a turbo. Don't think the 3520 would be that much less would it?

Thanks, I do like the 790 and just got into this when the dealer told me about how nice the JD cabs were. The only other downside of the 790 is the gear vs hydro and since I mostly do ground engaging work (grading and snow plowing) it isn't a problem. Don't need a cruise control! I'm actually pretty fast shifting since I grew up on farmall and ford gear tractors. I'm going to decide to be happy with what I have and maybe buy the cab depending on how the winter and my free cash goes.

Shooting from the hip I want to say a 3520 was about $2,000 less than a 3720. Also another way you could save is to skip the TNT and diverter for now. It's a dealer installed opinion anyway. If I recall the TNT and diverter add almost $3,000 to the bottom line. The service tech at the dealer said the TNT and diverter weren't to hard to install just took a day to install due to all the lines. Just for reference my 3720 is no slouch when it comes to horse power. It definitely runs out of traction before power(R3's: please lets not start a tire war). I think a 3520 would do just fine, but then again I'm only at about 700ft above sea level.

Hey let's keep at this we'll get you in that new tractor in no time!:D

I'm starting to feel like a salesman.:(

Since they aren't offering you that much for your 790, you could take off the diverter and TNT and possibly put it on your new machine or sell it outright online here.

It looks like people are asking around $15,000 for 790's like mine online. I don't know if they are moving though.

If I could get around $15,000 for the 790 and I change to a 3520; remove the Toothbar, Diverter, TNT, Box Blade, Power Beyond, Radio (kit only), and wheel weights; and add back in the cutting edge, filled tires, and level indicator; then I get a delta between my tractor and the new one that is in the $16K to $17K range and I might be able to make that work.

I'm still worried about the stability of the 3x20's with a cab. Nothing is flat here and my 790 is marginal although exceptable with filled rears. Any one have any thoughts on the stability difference between the two tractors?

I haven't found the cab to be too tippy. There was a period of getting use to being in the cab and being higher. Coming from a 4100 the 3720 seemed very tall and that definitely took some time to get use to. I'm running filled r3's. I've never driven an open station 3720 so I can't compare. Obviously any time you add weight up high your going to loose stability. Has any one here actually tipped a cab tractor over or heard of one? Please comment. I've also seen rear wheel spacers discussed here. Try a search.

I have had my 3720 on 3 wheels..... It was my open station, not my cab. I was trying a bone head move. But I did learn that the 3720 is more stabil than I thought. I have some steep sections on my property arpund ditches and such, and I run them all day. I feel no difference between the 3720 and the 5230 that is much wider..... None of my tires are filled.... Just be safe and use weights when needed...

Couple of things...
Do you NEED all the trinkets he priced out? Alot of them are priced high, AND could be added at a later date...Seems to me that a majority of the price quoted was all the trinkets.
-JD TnT...get the CCM instead for 1/2 the price
-Swap out the HD bucket for a Skid Steer QA and "cheapest SS bucket they have" cause even the cheapest Skid Steer bucket is better then the HD bucket.
-CC...Cab models come standard with "base CC"....and you can get the "enhanced CC" on eBay all day long for 80.00
-72" BB, unless you NEED JD Green, get yourself a woods or similar top shelf model for way less.
-I had the dealer install my radio kit with a CD player I got at Best Buy on clearance for 90.00, search around here for the original posts...long story short, 2x the radio/CD for 1/2 the cost.

Long story short, I think your dealer is WAYYYYY high. Price out a base machine and go from there....

I posted that I had asked for a quote w/o the TNT, BB, radio and other things. Haven't gotten anything back yet. I have a CCM TNT on my 790. By CC, do you mean Cruise Control?

Whoops, missed that.... Sorry!
Yeah, by CC I meant Cruise Control... About the only thing I suggest you get Dealer installed would be the Radio kit with your own radio....Reason: While popping off the top to do the radio install, the tech noticed there were problems with the roof seal (search the site for weak A/C or Weak Heat)...Luckily my dealer has a VERY Good Service Shop and knew all about busted roof seals...from Day one my A/C has been ice maker cold and my heater is hot enough to boil water.

You might want your dealer to install the cruise control because I think the computer has to be reprogrammed for it. I did my own radio and found leaks around the seal. I tried patching them but it didn't hold, so i took the top back off and got a new seal from the dealer for free. The radio is very easy to install. Save yourself some $$$$ like dave said.

Go with the R1 tires and wheels. That way you can turn the wheels out to a wider postion to give you the stability you want and need. With the R4 tires and wheels you can't get as wide. I have R4's on my 3520 cab and no way could I ever get around my place with the R4 rear wheel stance. I ended up adding unverferth 4 inch extensions giving me another 8 inches width in the rear. It makes a difference but, I still can't take the 3520 in places I took my old JD870.

The cruise control is an easy install yourself. Just follow the instructions and you can do one is less than an hour.
