I can't tell you how excited I am about these things. VERY VERY well-designed.

What's coming out first? The all-electric MTV. Not like a golf car or anything like that. We're talking BALLSY and well-built machines. Check 'em out:

Yes, it's a mid-sized UTV, an RUV. It has a trailing-arm rear suspension (so a solid axle), 48V electric, ballsy, tops out at 25mph, 1000# bed capacity, electric bed lift standard, selectable 4wd, and I believe this will even fit in a short bed truck. It will debut in black and orange, as you can see, and there should also be a camo pattern (not an official pattern like Mossy Oak, but nice anyway). Set to hit stores in January 2009 with an estimated price tag of $8999 for the base model.

Also available in a crew cab version:

The front has two bucket seats and the back has a full bench. I kindof wish they had a full bench in the front, but you really don't need a kid in the front anyway. The crew unit will have a beefier electric motor to compensate for the increased load and weight. I believe this model should be $10,000 or a little over.

There was also a prototype gas model that should debut a few months after the electric MTV:

Another shot:

Note the unusually long bed. Bed height is about like a Polaris Ranger, right below chest level for grabbing stuff. Also note all the fender space for oversized tires.

Check out the underside of this bad boy:

It's like a tank!!

It is hydraulically driven with a variable displacement pump and a hi/lo range, and they're toying with rear remotes:

OrangeMTVGasSingle4.jpg

I'm hoping they'll take advantage of the remotes for a rear 3 point option, and offer front hydraulics for a loader and other attachments. There is hydrostatic power steering and a hydraulic dump standard on here.

This machine was the ultimate Bad Boy, but it didn't get near the attention the electric ones did, mainly because we all got to drive the electric ones, not this one.

The power plant for this super bad machine:

Vang_BigBlock_35.jpg

Yes sir. The 35hp BIG BLOCK Vanguard!!!

Price point: $11,000-$11,500. This machine goes up against the Kubota RTV as being the only other traditional UTV that is hydraulically driven, though the Kubota has a hydrostatic transmission. Oh, and if you don't like the jerkiness of a hydro when you let off on the pedal, no problem. There is an adjustable coast valve (an omission that is Kubota's Achilles heel!!). I wonder when Bad Boy is bringing in the CAT diesels!!

If you weren't able to tell from the specs, the target market for this machine is landowners, hence the low top speed and the build style. The electric machines are awesome for hunters though. Zero emissions and little noise.

EDIT: I totally forgot one of the biggest things about these machines. The suspension is unreal. We carry the Husqvarna HUVs, and I've driven Polarises, Gators, RTVs, Rhinos, just about everything out there, and nothing drives as smooth as these do over bumps. We're not talking about a barely noticeable difference. We're talking you can be driving these along and drive over a parking stone without even slowing down and you are not even jolted. They're literally that smooth.

Sorry about the crappy phone pix. I will get better pix up as soon as I get a hold of them.

More information as it becomes available!!

I should note that the black models are limited edition units, and may cost a little more than the orange.

I saw HD Field Trax tires up at the factory today, so I would bet those are available for a more turf-friendly alternative to the all terrain tires on there.

we use them vangaurds in our mud boats down here and one reason too they are powerfull and reliable the only other motors we use are hondas/isuzu's but them vangurads are bad to the bone engines they got some tourque to them.

They are great engines. Very underrated IMO. I'm fired up about the electric MTVs, but it's the gas unit that I'm VERY excited about. A machine on this platform will blow the RTV away, especially if they offer it with the 1100 or 1500 CAT engines.

you mean catagory or catapilar?cause if you mean catapilar man that would be a badboy machine

Caterpiller! They already use these power plants on the ZTRs- a 28hp 1100cc 3 cylinder diesel and a 35hp 1500cc 4 cylinder diesel!!

I tell ya though, Bad Boy is looking real hard at the Daihatsu engines though because they have better turbo options, and Bad Boy really would like a turbo diesel if they put a diesel powerplant in. A good, proven Daihatsu powerplant is the 31hp 3 cylinder 950cc. It's a beast of an engine and puts out 55lb-ft of torque in a real small package.

I like the idea of the electric version. You mentioned it's a 48 volt system. Do you have any information on the battery set up? Six volt golf cart batteries give excellent service in electric vehicle applications, but it's hard to imagine they would use an eight battery lash up. What are they using?

Tnx.

i used to build river push boats and we would put some cats in them with turbos . i always likes going on the sea trials because of the sound of them turbos whisling. i installed alot of cat engines in my day to many to count for sure.

I like most of the stuff from Bad Boy .... BUT ..... (there's always a but) ... we were looking at golf carts a few months ago. I looked at the Bad Boy and liked it. Talked to a few dealers and the problem I heard most was there was zero, none, nada factory support.

So if you have a problem and there is no one there to support you, what do you have? One dealer had a unit sitting there that he'd had for a couple of months. He couldn't get parts directly from Bad Boy and he was a Bad Boy dealer. That wasn't a very good reflection on the company. So we passed on the Bad Boy.

This thread has seemed odd from the start. There was way too much cheerleading. If there is no factory support, or no parts, there is no product, to speak of anyway.:(

It's got 8 batteries. 6 under the seat and 2 under the hood (probably for balance).

That would be so cool, but at this point, no sign of any PTO. That would be cool if they took advantage of the hydraulics to power a PTO, but that may take too much HP to run a PTO and drive it.

Folks, this machine is made by the Bad Boy Mowers Company, not the Bad Boy Glorified Golf Car Company. I should have clarified that in the first post. The BBM co. has fantastic factory support and it's never taken parts more than 3 days to get here after ordering.

I can assure you this is something to be excited about. When they come out, check them out at your local Bad Boy Mowers dealer. Believe me, I was skeptical too, but there was alot of thought and engineering that went into these. There is still some more refining they're doing to these, such as choosing camo prints and a few miscellaneous details.

Forgot to mention, the MTV stands for "Multi-Terrain Vehicle" for those wondering. More details to come as I get them!

I am glad you clarified that. I had a hard time getting past an image of Madonna in a bustier flying down the road in one of those things. :p
