Yes, I had that problem on both my BX22 and on my BX23. Both tractors leaked on the very same side (the left gear case). I believe that the part number is #6A320-56220. It is relatively inexpensive.

It is not too difficult to replace yourself. You have to drain the oil and unmount the Bevel Gear Case from the Front Axle. You also have to remove a large O ring before you can separate the Bevel Gear Case from the Frong Gear Case. Be careful not to score the Front Gear Case housing when prying loose the old seal.

You will also need to apply a silicone sealant between the Front Bevel Gear Case and the Front Gear Case Cover during reassembly.

Good luck!

Thanks for the info, do you think it would be possible to remove the wheel housing gear case from the bevel gear case , without removing the bevel gear case from the front axle. and were is the large o ring you are talking about ? in the wheel housing gear case or the bevel case. also did you replace any other parts besides seals?

Lou, the steps that I outlined for you are in accordance with the Kubota repair manual.

You will see the "O" ring once you remove the Front Gear Case Cover; if you don't remove that ring, you will not be able to separate the Bevel Gear Case from the Frong Gear Case.

I did not have to replace any additional parts.

I know, old thread..I did my BX24 since it was leaking on the left side. I did not find it hard to remove the bevel ear housing from the front gear housing. Just tap the bevel housing with a ball peen hammer. Easy. Takes about 5 minutes to remove housing, remove seal and install new seal, install housing and snap ring. I just used Amsoil extreme gear fluid on the o-ring since I used that fluid. The old fluid (250 hours) was discolored and metal flakes.

SW03,

No issues changing them yourself?? Easy peasy??
I am getting ready to do the same to my BX24 with almost 900 hours. Been seeping for about 2 years now. Decided to change seals when I had a dime size drip on the garage floor. cleaned it up and "worked" the steering wheel back and forth a few times. No more drips in two weeks and I have been using the tractor. But I ordered the seals and o-rings to do both sides.

No, tap the bevel case and it will slide right off. Drain fluid first. You will need a large pair (.5" to 2") Internal snap-ring pliers to remove snap-ring from bevel case. CAUTION it will slide right off so have a jack under it. Do not remove front case as it is WAY harder.

You will not need an extra o-ring. Also need a seal puller or the seal will not come off. It is really easy to fix. Any questions, ask. Takes longer to remove wheel than the job..

I have a spare parts manual for the BX 2230 and will email it if anyone wants a copy.

I had a Bx22 from someone and it was close but not 100%.

You can download a picture from messiks and go from there. It is really easy if someone wants a play by play I can write something up.
