Model Year: 1967

A tractor having bomb proof reliability and durability I have this tractor from last 46 years and it never let me down in these years it has it's original engine even after it has crossed the mark of 20000 hours. I use it for hay balling and tillage work a great tractor. Hats off for ford.

Pros: Everything which you imagine from your machine.

Ford 3600 Tractor
Model Year: 1979

Bought used, but has been reliable, except for hard starting in cold weather. I changed fuel filter recently, and it has been easy to start since. I do have an R H steering cylinder leaking badly which I will have to repair. Since I purchased it I have replaced the radiator, battery, and the generator.

Pros: Enough power for my needs.
Cons: No front end loader attachment.

3600 Ford
Our New Used Tractor
Model Year: 1977

We bought this for mowing and general lifting and carrying jobs around the house and on our property. I paid $6,500 for it. Turf tires, unloaded but with mower and bucket. Now it needs a new clutch which I knew would happen someday but that day came sooner rather than later. Another couple of grand. However, the machine has performed well. The mower deck is good. The bucket too. This is our first tractor. Lessons are being learned.

Pros: All in all in good shape.
Cons: Replacing the clutch is relatively easy (so I'm told) but expensive.

3600 Ford
Ford 3600 Gas
Model Year: 1978

Purchased new in 1978 by my Dad. Used as the big tractor with a 1946 2N, also purchased new, and a early 8N on 180 acre Missouri farm. Equipped with power steering, differential lock and single remote cylinder control. Used with 3-14 Ford plow, and with duals on tractor, pulled 9' John Deere tandem wheel disk. Baled hay with IH square baler and harvested small grains and Fescue seed using AC 60 and 66 All Crop combines. Shed kept and well maintained, still has original rears and one front tire.

Pros: Bigger in size than the old N's it is still easy to operate. Power steering and diff lock make this a great box blade tractor. Power to spare for a 6' bush hog.
Cons: Original vertical muffler tends to catch on tree limbs when bush hogging. It has been shortened about 10 inches which helps some. Gas engine is not as efficient as a diesel would be.

3600 Ford
1978 3600 Diesel Tractor
Model Year: 1978

Bought tractor for mowing, light plowing, and light work around property. Original owner (my uncle) kept it in a shed. Another user used it for a few years after my uncle passed, and didn't perform maintenance. When I purchased it from my aunt, I changed all fluids and filters, except for the fuel filter. At first it leaked fluid from the right rear axle, but finally stopped. I also had to replace the battery. The only problem I have had with it is poor starting when it got cold. It finally started to hard start during warm weather, so I had the starter checked, even though it got the engine speed to 2-225 RPM. It seemed to me that it was pulling too many amps as the battery voltage dropped quickly, and the cable ends got hot. Pulled and disassembled the starter and it was unbelievably gunked up with fine grass and oily residue. I had it rebuilt, and at the same time I checked/replaced the fuel filter, which should have been done a lot earlier, as it was nasty. Could not shut off the petcock while replacing the filter, and have to replace it also. As soon as this has been completed, I will post the results. Other than that, I have been happy with the tractor. I did run into a tree while mowing some property and had to realign front end. After removing the drag links and straightening them, I bought taps and dies to clean and dress the threads, which made them a lot easier to adjust. Also bought new tires a couple of years ago.

Pros: 3 Point hitch, enough hp. for my needs.
Cons: No FEL hookup.

3600 Ford
Great Estate Tractor
Model Year: 1981

I bought this tractor in 2000 from Unger Tractor Sales Mexico MO. They do salvage and rebuild/restore work on Ford and Massey Ferguson. This tractor is a 42 HP 3cyl. diesel with live hydraulics, 8 forward speeds, and 2 reverse speeds. It had a fresh paint job, new decals, new instrument cluster, new muffler, new seat, and brand new front and rear tires. It also came with a quick attach bucket loader. I think $8400 was a fair price for a tractor like this. I use it with a 6 ft. finishing mower, a brush hog, and a 7 ft. 3pt. grader blade. For winter use I have made my own rear tire chains, add some rear wheel weights that I bought at Wright's in Quincy Il and at Unger's, and built a front blade attachment to the loader lift arms for heavy snow. My tractor is an outstanding, reliable machine! Being a diesel, it's easy on fuel and with its power steering it's a pleasure to operate!

Pros: Fuel economy, power to spare, power steering, and live hydraulics.
Cons: No front wheel assist.
