2600 Ford
Ford 2600
Model Year: 1978

Great tractor, it sat for 2 yrs. unused when I got as a part of payment for cleaning up a former RV dealership in a Chicago suburb. It was used for moving camper trailers around, in/out of shop and had a western snow plow that used the 3 point and a cable system to raise/lower blade for winter snow removal, hauled it home, dragged it around in gear to free up the motor. Put a battery/gas in it and it fired right up! and 14 yrs. later, pull the choke add some throttle and it starts right up! I added a bush hog loader (also 5 stars). I use it for general farm duties as well as scraping and it's great for its intended purpose new tires all the way around w/rears liquid filled and sadly its still just a Ford F150 2X4 that's awesome at digging holes but that's because I ask to much of it, I really need this tractor as a 4X4 with rear wheel weights.

Pros: Dependable/reliable/simple/diff lock/brake lock/4 speed w/rev and high/low range.
Cons: Had to add after market block to get hydraulics for loader and need to revamp that to get aux hyd. for rear attachments.

2600 Ford
Tough as a Lighter Pine Stump and May Last Longer
Model Year: 1969

My tractor was owned by a part time for pay bush hogger, break any garden up for a price, and make side money "old man". I bought the Ford 2600 diesel to use in my garden and to bushog areas of my property; it came with many attachments. After owning this tractor for 20 years I finally had to put some money in it and replace the fuel pump. Put in a new fuel filter also but did not really need it. My tractor will work all day on about 5 gallons of fuel at just under 2000 rpm, the way the "old man" said it liked to be run. I grow a garden or two every year and keep the deer camp food plots worked and so far still have the tires that came on it. I LOVE this old tractor for many reasons. I have a picture of my tractor on my office wall along with my wife and children.

Pros: Very easy on fuel, comfortable, strong, and maneuverable.
Cons: Likes a new battery about every three years or so and does not have a front bucket.

2600 Ford
Ford 2600 Gas
Model Year: 1978

I bought this tractor to bush hog, finish mow, backblade, plow and harrow a small garden plot (1/3 acre) and drag my firewood in. I also pull a small home-built trailer with it. I wanted a gas tractor around 30 hp, a utility type wide front tractor, and a live pto. I got all three with this machine. It has been very reliable and a good cold weather starter. The best part is I believe it's value is close or greater than what I paid for it in 2004 ($4,500). I grew up with a Ford 2N so I always wanted a Ford, but with a few more gears (3 vs. 8, a 12 volt system and a live pto. I think I got a great deal!

Pros: Low first cost (used of course), good power, live pto, power steering, 8 speed transmission.
Cons: 2 wheel drive which doesn't help with gathering maple sap in deep snow!

Ford 2600 Hobby tractor
Model Year: 1978

Runs a 6' bush hog well. Tractor has a industrial loader and about a 3 year old paint job. Looks ggod and runs good. Small leak in the loader valves. Wish it had a diff lock and cold weather starting kit installed. Starts and runs well.

Pros: Loader works well. Heavy duty loader compared to standard ag loaders.
Cons: No diff lock, no cold weather glow plug system. Couple sheet metal dents.

Used Ford 2600
Model Year: 1979

I bought this tractor used in 1999 from an old family friend that used it to make extra money by truck farming and bush hogging. The meter was broken at around 12.000 hours so the number of hours that this tractor has on it is anyone's guess. I use the tractor to mow, small gardens (my family and friends),and work on my deer lease. I change the oil, fluids, grease it, keep the tires aired up and use it three 1/2 days a week from March until October every year. This tractor has never been in the "shop" since I bought it and still burns clean with no smoke. Other than needing to fix a flat on the front tires every now and then, there has been no down time on this tractor. Well I did break the muffler off a time or two but that was totally my fault.

Pros: Runs like a top, works like a well trained mule, and hardly uses any fuel.
Cons: I have not had a battery last more than two years, yet. No front bucket.
