The guy who is currently mowing my yard has a Hustler Raptor that looks very impressive. I was considering getting one and then I read somewhere that it wouldn,t hold up pulling much weight in a lawn trailer. Any truth to this? i have a bunch of dirt to move and wouldn't want to wreck a new mower. Maybe I should just stick with plan one, an x360. Any thoughts?

A zero turn is for mowing, a tractor is for hauling.

This is true.

Commercial grade ZTRs can handle pulling a bit more weight, but they are no Garden Tractor on that front.

Zero turn mowers have the power but not the traction. We have Grasshopper with high traction tires. Before we got our tractor we used to pull 4' by 8' trailer usually loaded with wood (at least 1000 lb). It could pull quite a weight on flat but it lost traction on slopes. You will not wreck the mower but your turf by slipping tires. My wife still pulls garden trailer with her gardening stuff.

I think you'd need some weight up front too. Although I haven't done it (yet), it's not too difficult to pull a wheelie with a ZTR.

The hydro drives on most zero turns are not made for pulling hard. They are setup for fast movement needed for mowing.

Generally speaking zero turns should not be used to pull heavy trailers or rollers.
