Has anyone explored options for more rear tire traction? Turf-savers are ok, but sometimes sure lack decent traction. I suppose the heavy weight of the machine doesn't help either. I remember seeing a shallow cup design some years ago on the Grasshopper machines that may afford more traction, but I'm sure the trade-off is possible more turf damage.

I took the OTRs off and replaced them with Carlisle Turf Masters. Noticable difference in traction. The OTRs were a stiffer tire and if they caked with mud between the tread it wouldn't clean out. Just didn't seem to have enough flex to them. I thought of trying HDAPs but didn't know what they would do to the turf on a zero turn.

Make sure that you stay with a tire that has the same outer diameter so the deck will still run level.

It is possible to tear turf with bar type tires. What I found on a ZG2354 was much better traction and actually less tearing. The mower stopped or turned instead of spinning tires. On damp grass it actually tore less. Performance on a grade was much better also.

My dealer ordered a set of rear bar tires and rims (whole goods) for a bx2660, same size tires. Now I can switch rears between our dry and wet seasons. The turf tires suck in real wet grassbut the bar tires keep the zd moving...
