Excellent choice. I may be a bit biased but I think you made a great choice!

2009 2500HD Duramax/Allison 4x4 crew cab towing a 31ft Regal cabin cruiser on tri-axle galvanized trailer. The boat dry weighs in at a little over 5 tons, about 11+K lbs with gas, water, etc. The 2500HD with Dmax/Allison is rated at 13K, however, in 2009 the 2500HD hitch was the standard GM hitch put in everything including SUVs. IIRC it was rated for 7.5K or 12K w/WD, pretty woeful for a 3/4 ton pickup. Plus there were more than a few reports of problems/failures with the OE setup. No way I was going to pull this load with this hitch, so I ended up with a Draw-tite class 4 15K hitch.

Here's my other towing rig, Kubota B26. Pretty tight quarters maneuvering the boat around the corner of the house, so I'd back up the boat to the corner with the 2500HD, unhitch, then take it the rest of the way with the B26 using a hitch receiver welded to the quick attach pallet fork attachment.

What's the beam on that baby? 31' long I'd think would be over 8.5' which is all I can tow.
