Had an interesting problem yesterday. The (8) 8-18 screws on the pump cover under the lower spray arm on my Kitchen aid dishwasher that provides pressure to the upper & lower spray arms came loose. That in turn blew the seal out and sent water under the door onto my hard wood floor. Of course no one was home at the time and it was all over but the shouting when I got back. We also have a finished lower level w/dropped ceiling and I don't have to explain what happened there.

Anyway, I located the problem and ordered a new seal. In the meantime I reinstalled to old one temporally while waiting a week for the new one.

Now my problem is what to put on the screws to keep them from backing out again. The assembly is plastic so that rules out conventional wisdom. The problem area is also covered by the lower spray assembly and not readily visible.

To make a long story short, I was thinking a dab of Aviation Permatex on the screws might do the trick. What are your thoughts?

Could you hot glue them temp?
Its too late now but i alwasy shut the dryer washer and dishwasher off when ever i leave the house.makes me feel more secure. But I did have the ice maker hose spring a slight leak , so I know what yur dealing with.

Hardwood floors have been my thing for the last 25 years. My advice would be to pull as much drop ceiling as you can and get fans moving air up and downstairs. Sometimes you can save a wood floor that got major wet and sometimes not. Generally your homeowners insurance will pay for that type of thing. Good luck.
