My Predator sits in a detached garage that swings a lot. It's insulated, but not heated or cooled and in the Midwest.

Have not started the Predator in a few months? I decided to pull start it rather than electric. Two pulls and it was purring! Ran the air compressor for a while with it.

Not sure what you mean by swings a lot but that reminded me of a solution I suggested for a friend that had rodents getting into his generator.
I suggested that he hang his generator off the floor to avoid rodent/water damage.
Don’t know it he ever did.
In principle it sounds like a good idea!

I think so…
I was thinking That Sucks, re. your Honda, but if no venturi anymore, that's not correct to say.

Not just corn farmers are getting rich, off ethanol.... unfortunately, for many of us.

I've noticed gas formulation changing here, in the last 2 years, and not for the better. I was checking this recently, and may already have posted, but here goes.....

This Fall, I plan to just hold my nose, pay the ransom, and buy a can of this VP T4 fuel - intended for storage of my motorcycles, mower, and generators.

VP T4 - 97 Octane for Greater Detonation Protection | VP Racing Fuels

Fuel problems are too common, with many things that sit too long. Winter and Summer, humidity is high here - add temperature swings, condensation happens. I noticed at least 5 years ago, stopping by a regional powersports chain that I don't really like to do business with (hadn't been there in quite a while), that there was an EXTENSIVE on-floor display of ready to go low-cost complete PRC carbs.

I rotate through (deliberately mixing-use) Stabil 360, Marine, Seafoam (I know it has IPA), and Startron, as well as PEA based FI cleaners. Like chicken-soup for a Cold, doesn't seem to hurt .

Set Up to Fail... the first thing I heard of consequence, starting with the company I'm with right now..... wasn't re. Gasoline in their context, but suits what I'm banging on about this late night......

I guess we are now supposed to be running battery-powered gens, instead of IC engines !

Let us know how the carb-transplant works-out....

Anyone who thinks farmers are getting rich off ethanol, doesn't know much about farming!

Farmers are certainly NOT getting rich off of ethanol enriched fuels.

What I have found interesting over many years is that two stroke engines running on 50-1 oils seem to have less carb problems with old gas then any 4 stroke engines with any combination of witches brew in the fuel. Fortunately I can get ethanol free gas from many stations around here it is expensive close to a buck a gallon higher and it is supposed to be high octane. I use very little 2 storke fuel so it's not a killer to fill up a can with the non ethanol gas a couple of times a year. I do dump at least one of those tiny bottles of 50 - 1 bottles of oil in a five gallon can of gas regardless of what it's going to be used in.
My least started engine the last couple of years has been my sanders Brigs and Stratton which only got started once last season and that was just a check run as I never had to sand the driveway last winter. It started right up with the fuel that had been in it since the winter before.

Agree on the 2 stroke comment. My Echo saw runs on 2 year old fuel all the time and never skips a beat.

Moisture in fuel leads to corrosion in the carb passages… the fuel lines were a big problem in the beginning but mostly an easy fix and and only with some older equipment.

Everything stored in my temperature stable walk to daylight garage has been problem free… knock on wood.

Equipment consistently used every couple of weeks also no issues.

I think the generator succumbed because it would sit inside the service van for months at a time with inside temps from about high 40’s to well over a 100 temperature swings pulling in moisture.

No gas stations open to public offer pure gas most likely because this Bay Area California.

The cans of pure gas are available at a price.
