You’ll want to make sure you have the hot air discharge ducted away so it can’t recirculate.

The test for this is, inlet air should never be more than 6C above ambient.

Amoung the many, many things to consider, I think I accomplished that. Now, I want to make sure critters can't get in. But still be able to do an oil change. Compared to the environment most of these poor things had to endure, this should be paradise! Most die of road (salt) spray!

Appreciate your input and knowledge.

Liking that datapoint.

Hydro One Had a 菟lanned power outage on the weekend. Generator fired up OK, but no power transferred to the house. Went out, shut off the generator, and toggled the 70 amp breaker off and on again. Then turned the generator on to standby again, whereupon it started as it should. This time, however, power was transferred to the house. Very worriesome.

Tested the generator just now, to see if I could replicate the problem Turned off the line power and generator fired up, and the automatic transfer switch transferred fine. So I put a load on the generator - electric stove with all 4 burners and oven on, and the electric dryer. No problem, but after about 10 minutes or so, the power went off but the generator stayed on. Have to go out to the generator and toggle the (70 amp) breaker to see if that was the problem. Maybe I used too much power and simply tripped the breaker (maybe when the fridge went on or something.)

... went outside and sure enough, the breaker was tripped. Toggled it off and then on again, and power to the house came on. Ran the dryer for a little while, no problem. So, I guess a stove with all burners and the oven on and the dryer is too much.

Get a clamp on meter on it to verify, o otherwise risk false tripping

ya, it could be just asking too much of unit. An electric oven might be sucking up 40 amps by itself. Agree a clamp on meter is only way to test. Could just be a weak breaker.

Also check the connections at the breaker. A poor connection will get hot and the heat will conduct into the breaker causing it to trip the thermal overload.

A 70 amp breaker will not pass 70amp continuously only for short time, about 55amp is all they will hold. HVAC breakers will hold more load but cost more. 55amp is about 13kw

Thats not a real warning. Its a built in Test reminder. Happens either every 6 months or once a year depending on service its asking.. While engine is off and the auto button is on, press the enter button. It will ask if you checked battery. Press enter again. As for the sediment trap, over the years I致e serviced these units, I have never seen anything in one. But our climate isn稚 very hot. I have been told that climates with wild temp swings are harder on this. its vague in manual, but its on page 38, last line.

You could be right there, I had one we installed from the factory that had lose wires on the breaker,,, Checked every one after that..
