How about a nice little sticker on the panel:....
Amber Maintenance Light
To Reset: Press Enter Twice

GRS could sleep in then...;)
ive tried everything to tell them how to do this...doesnt help. i still get the call. Then again...the calls do get me alot of requests to do service on the generators, or remind the clients to do the service or at least LOOK at their generators. the good thing is that the yellow light condition will not stop the generator from operating normally.

I had a funny call the other day. a guys generator wouldnt start. I went to look at it, and sure enough i could not get it to start. it was only 1 year old. I started to check gas pressure and noticed that both internal fuel lines inside generator coming from the fuel regulator were kinked. They weren't like this when i installed the unit. i started to move the hoses and noticed that as i pushed them back towards regulator they rounded out again. It appeared as if they were too long and had moved as the weather got hot and the hose softened up. I was going to remove and trim hoses, but instead i found i could push them back in and zip tie them internally to a solid intake shroud by motor. now they are nice and round and cant move anymore. The unit fired right up. Im hoping that this was a fluke. I looked at another unit i have in stock and the lines had no movement to them. now i have to add this to my check list during service calls in the future. hose.jpg

Great point grs..... while the pressure rating may be relatively low on that hose, still, surprising that they would kink that easily....

Speaking of ranges. Anyone know "exactly" how an old school range controls the heat of an electric burner? It's something I have always wondered and never bothered to find out.

“Old school” ranges (ones you could hear a soft click from) used a bimetal and cam. The amount of force from the cam would determine the on time vs off time and therefore the average element temperature. They were called an infinite switch.

Not sure about newer ranges but I’d have to think even the coil ranges would be electronically controlled now with some type of PWM controlled thyristor or solid state relay. Electronics are cheaper to mass produce than mechanical devices.

That, and those old controls lasted way too long....... Never saw one fail, and I don't recall ever talking to anyone who did.

I broke the shaft off the one on my current (brown) Kenmore range. Does that count? Trying to find a replacement.

I programmed my first deep sea controller model 7320 MKII you plug your laptop via USB port build the profile then upload it. I printed the file 58 pages of different parameters alarms etc. It can do anything you've ever dreamed about doing. Also did some rewiring on the genset the builder didn't keep ground points under control, and I moved the glow plug relay closer to the batteries and glow plug rail. Also replaced a lot crimped joint with soldered and heat shrink.

Winner Winner, Can't Cook Chicken Dinner !

Simple design, and generally reliable, but drop a cast iron lid or heavy cookbook on one of those controls.... yeah, not really ruggedized for vertical applied forces........ you can buy Model A Ford parts pretty easily, somebody should have that control available.....

Well played. That's evolving into a very solid build. It's great when you can get something set up exactly the way you want......

Interesting controller. Most everything has a lifespan to it, but I'd like to think (barring insolvency, corporate buyout....) that a generic controller for wide application has a long replacement availability. Nothing worse than being shutout of the replacement market, Just Because... they'd rather sell you a new complete machine.....

Funny how easy it is to spend other people's money.....

I could not read the drawing on the deep sea as I could not blow it up. How many inputs and outputs?

Many low end controllers like the Dynagen I use, claim all kinds of inputs and outputs, but in reality you have to choose the parameters for just a very few.

Try Ctrl and + at the same time, to zoom. Ctrl and - to shrink.
