Your last generator Maintenance Run

PERMIT APPROVAL final got it we turned in the wind report along with all the engineer diagrams. $149.00 Everybody told us you needed a electrician to pull a permit for 30kva with ATS but we got a homeowner installed permit.

Engineer docs often tend to get things moved along nicely..... (they know who to blame ).

So I have seen this thread now and again.. always reminded me that I needed to go out and start up my generator..as it has now been about 2 years since it was run. ..Well we lost power today about noon and it’s 6 pm now..power company says they hope it’s back on by 9:30 pm...about 4pm I finally dragged out the generator..fully expecting it to be a mofo to start.. found that it was dead empty of fuel.. so I put in 1/2 tank of fresh gas... figured I would pre empty the fight and remove the air cleaner and give it a shot of starting fluid.. but all I had was carb cleaner... so in it went... turned the fuel shut off to open.. 2 pulls and it sputtered..3rd pull and it came to life.. lights on.. fridge on.. well on.. screw the power company ��. I know remember when I put it to bed last time, I filled it with non ethanol gas From a 1 gallon can.. ran it till it stalled and shut the fuel off. ...had it been basic pump gas I suspect I would still be cleaning or rebuilding a carb right now.

The local equipment dealer sells it in a pre sealed can. ..also has non E premix that I use in the chainsaw, blower, hedge trimmer, etc...anything 2. Stroke that does not get used weekly

10-4. We have some Efree pumps local, but various stores sell similar canned gasoline here too.

Not inexpensive in cans like that, but equipment that won't run is pretty useless/irritating.....

I would not call it a maintenance run....

Power went out around 530 am. Set generator up around 630 because I needed to get in the shower and get to my day job. Power came back on around 1030. Wife was working from home do generator ran that entire time. Will be interesting to see fuel consumption when I get home

I guess I can check that off my pre winter check list.

Flip-side of Murphy TM419..... w/o a Gen, line-power would have been down for at least a day !

serviced the little Champion 3100 inverter gen.
First I dug out the mud wasp work, for the third time, even under the factory cover.
Had run carb dry last time. Not doing that again...
Pulled ten times. Nothing. Pulled another five. Nothing. Sprayed a small amount of starter fluid in the intake area, before the filter,
and it started right up and ran perfectly. Ran a 1500 watt heater on it for about fifteen minutes, then changed oil.
Stuck on new label saying 10/30 Syn Aug 2019
Next time I'll change the plug, or rather inspect it and I'm sure it will be pretty clean.
We throw away so many spark plugs today for no reason, not like the old days
where your big buy from JC Whitney was a spark plug cleaner.

I still do use my spark plug cleaner.

Yep. Glad to be able to fire it up and get ready for work like nothing happened.

That hurricane keeps getting more and more scary every news cycle it seems. Hope anyone down there did their maintenance run. Get more fuel than you think you need.

Hopefully not already widespread, but at drive-time today, Canadian news radio was reporting FL gas stations low enough on fuel that cars were getting abandoned. Roy's heavy prep work looked good a while ago; even better now....
