If you haven't already figured it out I'll freely admit it, I'm a bit of a gadget freak. Whenever I see an interesting tool that looks like it will make a job easier I try to snatch it up. Wanted to share with you what I consider to be my favorite tool.

It's a Eliminator socket set. Yes, I know what you're thinking sockets are a dollar a dozen these days. But let me explain why this set is a bit more special. Yes, with the included adapter it looks and functions like a conventional 3/8" ratchet wrench and will accept standard 3/8" sockets sold all over the USA.

But, if you remove the adapter and pop in one of the Eliminator sockets your ratchet wrench will now accommodate bolts and threaded rod of any length, all but eliminating the need for deep-well sockets.

Best of all it was purchased at a NAPA store, and made by Armstrong right here in the good old USA, so it's is a quality product! :D

PS Did I forget to mention that the box is New Holland blue? ;)

So what qualifies as your favorite tool and why?

Neat tool. I might get a set. It would be even more attractive if they offered tubular extensions - should be easy. Sometimes you need some setback.
My favorite simple tool is the prismatic jaw vise grips. They will hold Hex and round without marring and with vise grip power. The 10LW will hold from 5/8 to near 2" hex well enuff to stand on the handle. Very versatile. I think this comes closest to the one tool toolbox - - at least for tractor stuff.

Favorite tool as in only 1? Maybe it has to be the 1/2 inch impact gun. I like to squeeze the trigger and power off a tough nut or bolt. If not that, then the BFH, big effin hammer. I don't think I would choose anything with a circuit board or battery for my favorite, just to keep it simple. I would maybe eyeball a nice big prybar as a optional choice.

My #1 favorite tool is the 18v battery powered DeWalt reciprocating saw (one-handed portable destruction).

#2 favorite tool is the good old oxy-acetaline torch.

What can I say...

It's a toss up between a big rubber hammer and a Crescent wrench.

My pocket screwdriver. It has more uses than any other tool I have and it's always with me (at work atleast ).

My favorite is my old 22 oz. Estwing framing hammer. It has helped me build many great projects and when I get mad it can tear things apart quick!

Sort of a tool/gadget nut myself. I've managed to accumulate quite an assortment of woodworking tools over the years. (I'm a carpenter) Also have a big ol' Snap On tool box, packed with mechanics tools. A few years back, my wife got me interested in "gormet cooking". (read anything I haven't ever cooked before that can be done on a grill) Then I started stocking the kitchen with chef's "tools".

So. Pick a favorite. Hmmmm. How about an old Bluegrass 16 oz. wooden handled claw hammer that my grandfather gave to my dad, who passed it on to me. I don't use it all that often. It stays in my home office. (Right next to the computer) All it does these days is to put an occasional nail in the wall to hang pictures and such. It's the fact that my grandfather and my dad put food on the table, put a roof over the family's heads, and I drove my very first nail with it, way back when.

Handy? Not any more. Valuable? Not in terms of dollars. Cherished? You bet your life it is.

I vote for the battery powerd saws all (reciprcating saw). I use mine to cut everything and it works where other things just don't. The fact that I can put a long blade in it and saw around almost 90degree turns and cut trees and what ever it is the best tool I own.
