We have this tool for removing the locking portion of the cap. It is easy to use.

Looks an awful lot like a tool I have for releasing the interlocking bead on vinyl siding.

I learned today I about wore myself out just putting winter clothes to go outside and work.

Population of the town was 200 at the time. The last prices I remember him charging in the early 70's was $2 during the week and $2.50 on Saturdays.

I have his card somewhere. I'm sure he raised his prices with the times. I still have a few pairs of his scissors, a razor, a brush and a strop.

Prescription bottles not so bad, but OTC stuff (aspirin/Tylenol, etc.), yeah. Not because of hand strength, but not always obvious ways of getting past the lock...sometimes you'd have to squeeze in just the right spot, other times press down and turn.

Household chemicals (bleach, paint thinner, etc.) even moreso.


Mine usually used a frying pan.
I don't EVER remember my mother wearing a dress around the house, even back in the 50s. To work, yes but not around the house. Ditto for friends' mothers. Maybe a city/suburbia thing?

Speaking of cooking, YKYO if you remember when it wasn't considered "manly" to be able to cook, except maybe outside grilling. My father was just a shade above helpless in the kitchen. Likewise when it came to doing laundry.

The only time I remember my mom wearing dresses was to Church or formal occasions. Otherwise comfortable clothes suited for the work she was doing. Art teacher. Seamstress. Mom driving kids all over the place in the VW van.
