You Know You Are Old When

Before the parents had a toaster Ma made toast on the electric stove putting a slice of bread directly on the burner.
It was an art to toast the bread without burning it.
I think that's where I developed the taste for the bitter dark burnt rings.

That used to be how we made toast on the propane stove while camping.

As a kid, I could always taste this in the store-bought milk, as well. I remember nearly every spring, telling mom "the milk tastes like grass!" Mom would explain that this happened when the cows switched from winter feed back to grazing, and by the second or third glass your tastes would aclimate to the change, until the first bottles of the following spring.

I'm not sure if my taste buds have dulled, or if farming practices or milk processing has changed so much, but I no longer notice the change-over.
Get some Amish or organic milk that is not-homoginized. Then a glass of big box or grocery store milk and let me know what you think. We drink skim, non- fat milk.

Spoiler alert: do this test outside so when you spit out the factory-farm milk it makes less of a mess.

Mine is hearing and feeling all the snap pop and crackle in my neck as I turn my head.
Don't you miss the good old days when snap, crackle and pop was something your cereal did?
And you heard clear as a bell.(y)

When you meet an old friend for dinner, and spend two hours talking about all the surgeries and procedures you've both had in the 20 years.
I mention this to my siblings. When my parents ran the greenhouse, a few aunts and uncles would help out durong the busy Memorial Day season. Between customers they would compare notes about what meds the Doctors had them on.

We really have become our parents.
