Well...all I can say is there must be lots of young whippersnappers here!

My guess is that you wound up pretty successful in life and that administrator could smell it early on. Got to not let gumption, persistence and capabilities interfere with their advancement prospects.
Started paying into social security at age 12 with every job as an employee being a job where I was recruited…

Owning my own separate property management business went a long way towards early independence…

The flip side is every government job I interviewed for was a no go… go figure… maybe a tad to independent?

My 33 YO daughter just said that she only knows 2 people that carry handkerchiefs and I was one of them.
A couple kids at my high (maybe grade) school had them, I always thought they were so gross. Blow nose, put it back in pocket. Repeat as necessary thru the day. Yuck.

My wife said her father used to use a handkerchief, her mother hated washing them, very hard to get clean.

Boy, I do! I also remember when the post office got rid of them, a local pizza restaurant bought a couple to make deliveries. The meter maids drove them, too. (y)
I do remember meter maids using something similar 50-odd years ago. There was a guy that drove around neighborhoods in the city where I went to college with something like that (I think his was a Cushman) selling produce door to door.

Yeah, Cushman was the big brand back then. Local parks department had some of the 3 wheelers, and switched them out for 4 wheelers in the 70s. They had a little dump bed, which was much more useful. Today, everything is pickup truck with trailer towing zero turns based at central office. We used to have equipment and people based at each park. Now with more efficient machines, that's no longer needed.

The acceleration is the fun part, more than blasting down a straight stretch of highway at 200 mph. :D
I agree 100%. Being a lifetime drag racer, all I care about is being the first one there in a 1/4 mile race. I don't care if the other guy is going faster when he crosses the finish line second.

YKYO, when the only hangers you had in your apartment
Were! 😂😂😂

I have some imprinted ones from New Orleans with the wire part galvanized and the wood varnished and a 4 digit phone number. But it's too late for me to go in the attic and get a photo. After my father passed away I gave away his coat but kept the hanger. I wish I had kept the coat instead.

Me too...so we're old!
"I’ve seen clothes on metal hangers for decades with rust stains."
My wife is finally getting rid of clothes we had since the 70s!
I've still got 8 pairs of my heavy warm socks I used for coonhunting in 1980. They are the only old clothes I have that still fit.

AAAHHHH, but which one pulls 100 pounds up the hill faster?
Yeah…because pulling 100 pounds is soooo useful in a truck.

It should satisfy both torque and horsepower lovers that a top fuel dragster produced around 7000-8000 pound feet of torque and 8500-11,000 horsepower. ;)

I’m a torque junkie.

Lets take a Cat C-13 with 400HP and a Ford Powerstroke with 500HP

Which one pulls more weight up a hill? ;)

I took a ride with a guy in a twin turbo c13 to haul my D5 dozer home and i think it was 550 hp instead of 400 but that truck would smoke a powerstroke. My Volvo is 405 hp and would still smoke my 6.7 Cummins or my dad’s 6.7 powerstroke in an uphill pull. The Volvo shifts slow so it would probably lose a race but for an uphill pull the smaller trucks can’t match twice the torque and twice the gears. My Cummins exhaust brake is better than the powerstroke but the Volvo smokes that as well. The Volvo is rated to resist 550 hp and will twist the frame down when it’s downshifting.
