You Know You Are Old When

Kind of stupid how Docs coordinate MRIs. They usually need an Okay from the insurance carrier. So in conversation with one Doc, they said, you'll always need an ultra sound first before the carrier will sign off on a MRI. In my case, the ultra sound was inconclusive as to if the tumor was bad or okay, so I always have to have the ultra-sound first?
The act of digging is helpful. I won't turn down the backhoe that way they get a place on on the ridge overlooking their domain under the trees. I stop by most days. Gone but not forgotten
We will be able to look at his spot from the bedroom window. It was an area of the property he always liked to sniff and explore because of the moles and deer. It was very much his domain, and has a grand view of the valley below.

When people younger than you are, are complaining about all of their medical problems.
Yes, this is a strange one for wife and me. We deal a bit with college age people that tell us their health complaints. Wife and I just look at each other, and try not to laugh at their issues. Wife even used the word "snowflakes" the other day. Never thought she would ever use that term. And we are both well left of center, what ever that means these days. :)

Mine are buried at the end of my driveway, I go past them every time I leave the house or come home. I dug each grave by hand but the next time will have to use the backhoe as I'm not getting any younger.

My cousin told of an Indian friend of his who's family really likes dogs. They plant a fruit tree on each grave, so that the dog still sustains them. He said they have a good sized orchard as they have been doing it for several generations.

I'm old enough to remember when doctors made house calls.

When we kids got sick my mother would always say "It's the grip" you could have a took ache and it was the grip.
when we really, really got sick she would call the DR and he would come to the house.

I remember those days. Ome time my brother was sick so the doctor came and lanced a boil in his ear, or something like that. My mother said that he had a big so in my mind's eye I envisioned the doctor spearing a bug in his ear. I must have watched or something because I still remember a lot of red.

I would have been about 4 at the time...

I remember the Dr coming to our house 3 times... Mumps, Chickenpox, & Measles.

I even got a pair of sun classes one of those times.

I remember house calls and also being told by the doc where the chick pox party was being held and that we should go.

I remember my father saying he had the grip. I always assumed a cold or flue. Never was really sure.
I also remember the Dr. coming to the house for me when I was aboot 5.
I don't remember being sick but that he was going to give me a shot for something.
When I saw him preparing the needle and the size of it I took off. I remember them trying to corner me.
I was small enough to run under tables etc.
Funny thing is I don't remember if I got that shot or not. Must have but...?

I remember the doc coming to the house but I also remember going to the doc in the office.

One doc used to smoke while leaning forward in his chair to examine my complaint. It bothered me to get smoke from his cigarette in my face and have him drop ashes on my pants.

My father had a doctor who lit one smoke off the other.
He had an ashtray the size of a car hubcap that was always full.
