You Know You Are Old When

This made me feel old.

Christina Applegate (Kelly Bundy on Married With Children) is 52 years old. She has had a double mastectomy, due to breast cancer, and she has MS. She walks with a cane and is probably not physically up to acting anymore.

What a sad turn of events!

It actually explains a lot growing up as a kid with your aunts and uncles, and why Mr. Welk so popular (long read on the mans life, but well worthwhile IMO).

Kind of ironic when I watched the Smothers brothers show with my dad.

Actually Thank You, for that link, I had never really read about Welk, that is a good read.

I remember our family always watched Star Trek, Daniel Boone and Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom 'with Marlin Perkins' together.
Was thinking about my first real memory that stuck and it was sitting in a high chair when the news broke that president Kennedy had been killed and mom crying.

This made me feel old.

I have a very good "real" friend (meaning I'm going to his wifes birthday party later this month) on a popular gun forum.

He started on that gun forum the same time I did (he moved down to NC about the same time I did and we were co workers back then).

I finally broke 1,000 posts the other year.

My friend has over 300,000 posts and he's about 10 years younger than I am.

I swear, you'd think he was a kid living at home living in his parents basement with that amount of posts.

Heck, we got married in the parlor of our 200 year old New England farmhouse during a stay off the roads blizzard and everyone showed up. Cost was not much and people had a great time.

I don't think we paid more than $1000 for our wedding in 2008. Had it outdoors at a state park. There was a fee for use of the park plus insurance, the JP, a couple deli platters and a sheet cake from the supermarket. I still had my equipment from my days as a mobile DJ so no cost for tunes, MC, etc. It was a beautiful autumn day and a splendid time was had by all.
