A bandaid used to be a mark of courage, meaning you'd done something.

Somehow, that same item with Fred Flinstone on it doesn't accomplish the same thing.

I remember getting iodine!!!
That was the biggest fear of getting cut at my grandparent's house: grandpa running for the iodine!

Mom used Bactine, which wasn't exactly fun either, but the stuff was a walk in the park next to iodine!

I know I'm old but it got confirmed today when I realized that I was putting on an old pair of shoes to work ,in the yard rather than my boots (both slip-on) because I have to bend over to get the boots but can ,pick up the shoes with my feet.

Christmas was great but I got yet another reminder that I’m getting old.

We had a bunch of younger nieces and nephews over Christmas Eve. I had Dean Martin and Bing Crosby Christmas songs going as background music.

My 18 year old niece asked “who is singing”?

I said “Bing Crosby, maybe the best singer ever”. She looks at me and says “who is that”.

OMG in their language.

After much discussion and and a brief survey, turns out NONE of the kids 18 or under had any clue whatsoever about Bing Crosby, Dean Martin or Frank Sinatra. Not a clue.

I am getting old!!!
when you need a ladder to fill 'r up, where you used to simply stand on the front axle drive shaft...

This stuff didn't sting, you're thinking of Merthiolate, which was red and really burned.

I was shirtless sitting on the hood of my buddies 66' Mustang and I fell off and got some road rash on my back. My brother applied Merthiolate everywhere and oh boy did it sting.

You're sure right about Merthiolate! That stuff burns like fire, so it must be good :)

I just bought a 1oz bottle of iodine at the local Walgreens this week. Sticker Shock - $16.95 for a ONE once bottle. The large 4oz bottle was $26. I suspect I just bought my last bottle of iodine or Merthiolate. Mercurochrome is almost non-existent any longer.

Agree. Merthiolate stung, not mercurochrome. Merthiolate was also good for removing skin tags. Dried them up and they would drop off.
