You know your old when you pull into a filling station and ask for Ethyl.

I worked at a service station when I was a teenager and used to pump ethyl. I worked with "Monkey", "Rat" & "Garbage". Never a dull moment, one day playing hide & seek with monkey I hid in the ice cooler. I heard coins drop in so I handed an ice bag to some lady on vacation who almost had heart failure. Burning trash in a barrel one evening it caught a shed full of tires on fire. The owner was trying to hose it down when I said "don't you have insurance"? Owner dropped the hose "Monkey! Rat! Bring lighter fluid!"

I had some pretty good teen and 20's years, all sorts of havoc and mayhem. But there's no doubt about it, after all these stories, yours were better.

Sometimes I think he should start a thread of his stories. Then I think a minute, remembering the go-cart among others.
It makes me realize how lucky we are that he doesn't.

My brother had a 1969 Chevelle SS with factory 4 on the floor and bench seat, you couldn’t put the seat all the way forward

Had a '71 Duster back in the day, 3 on the floor and bench seat. As long as my legs are, never had to worry about putting the seat all the way forward.
To this day, it's a rare compact/subcompact I can comfortably drive.

Thought of this today —- you are old if you remember going to a Blockbuster store to rent movies!

I drove by an old huge Blockbuster store this morning.

Now - like everything else it seems - it’s a health care related place!

Back in the late 70’s I picked up a ‘73 Dart sport, 340, 4 on the floor, lemon yellow with a factory sun roof
Was apart with clutch & trans out in a back yard, got all the parts put in the trunk and towed home
Fixed it and sold it, never licensed it for the road
I was always a chevy guy but wished I would’ve keep that one

Kids born after Y2K may remember Blockbuster, as their crash didn't really happen until 2009.

Now, if you remember the Betamax vs. VHS battle, you might be old!

We rented our VHS cassettes at a mom and pop video rental store built into an old barn through the 1980's, which eventually grew to basically fill the entire barn, maybe the largest selection I'd ever seen of video casettes in any single location. Then everyone switched to West Coast Video early 1990's, probably because they got more new releases earlier than anyone else, and had more liberal return policies than the mom-and-pop stores. Blockbuster took over around here sometime mid-/late-1990's, until Netflix killed them ca.2010.

Back in the '50's it was common for drunks and drunks-in-training to keep a bottle under the seat for medicinal purposes. Many times taking a little kid for a ride around town invoked a touch of the old "lumbago" or "arthur-itis" and thankfully, the remedy was close at hand.

I bought one of the last models of VHS players off Amazon after they stopped making them. It is a combo unit with a DVD-R unit so I can transfer old tapes over to DVD, specifically one I recorded, Crash Landing: The Rescue of Flight 232, which is not available in any other media. I also have several transferred over I used for fire training, such as some footage of a soccer stadium fire in England showing how fast wooden stadiums burned and the actions of the fans.

But it's been a few years since I turned either of them on!

A few years ago the grandkids were visiting and asked about the the HiFi in grandmas house.

It’s circa 1964 walnut cabinet with Blaupunkt receiver and Garrad turn table…

Probably 25 years since it was on so I showed them how it works and the sound was rich.

They really enjoyed the record drops but no one enjoyed more than Grandma hearing records from so long ago and seeing the grandkids dancing.

I remember my stereo shop guy selling his first VCR. Early 70s. Local Dr. bought it for just under $5k, enough at the time to buy a decent new car.
It had a wired remote and didn't record.
Problem was there were few movies available and anything good took forever to make it to the rental market.
I remember getting my 1st CD player. Used to rent my favorite music. Then record it on to VHS as a master tape and then onto cassette for the car.
A high end VHS had a much better sound than a cassette.
If I could just have back all the time I spent recording and rerecording my music.

Something happened when I turned 70! Now I'm starting to bruise easily and don't know how it happened. An example is this and I don't remember dropping an anvil.
Then shower, dry off and small blood spatters on the towel. Where's that coming from?
