I just bought an old Yanmar tractor. The decals say 223D.

I can't find reference to this model number anywhere. 220D yes but not 223D.

What's up with that? I'd like to try and find a manual for it.

Any information would be appreciated.

Decals say "223D" First, decals are easily removed, and easily applied. Next to meaningless. Second....how do you know it's a Yanmar? Is it stamped on the block? Seen plenty of oddball stuff sold as "yanmar" over the years. Look for serial numbers, etc. stamped into the block or chassis. Those aren't changed so easily.

OK my memory sometimes fails me... It's a 226D.

SN 226D 40475.

Still curious about what year.

The YM226D was a domestic model, built in the early 80's and sold around $9K. A 3 cylinder, 22 engine HP diesel, CAT 1, 3PH and weighs right at 2300#'s

LMTC and others have the parts manual on CD. Absolutely a must tool with exploded views of how things work and go together. This would be a serious first purchase that should be with a new owner for the life of the tractor.

I often ask that question myself.;) So who would like to be LMTC? Ten years ago someone offered me a pretty nice price for the business name...just the name/identity, mind you, no physical equipment, etc. Of course one of the conditions was a "non-compete" agreement. But that means someone thought enough of our reputation in this market, even ten years ago, to offer to buy our identity and open a business in the general vicinity and operate it as LMTC. Having lost a couple sales again the past few days to the fellows who say anything and have the late 1980-s and mid-1990s models Yanmars  , I do begin to ask that question. Who's LMTC? I reckon we're the folks who just aren't sharp enough to buy at the best prices, so we have to make our customers pay more to compensate for our lack of business acuity.

Sorry, I just get to feeling melancholy when I recall the good old days of competing against other sellers who were mostly honest.

We don't have a copy of the 226 parts book, but I'm sure they can be had somewhere. It has fair aftermarket parts support. As far as year, I dunno, bot don't see as it matters. Any parts changes are listed in the parts books by serial #s; years of manufacture have nothing to do with that, and little to do with anything else.

OK I'm new here so bear with me.

LMTC, nice website. Quite informative.

Another question regarding my tractor. The frame and all the castings on mine are black not green like I see in all the pictures. Suppose they have been repainted or were some that way from the factory?
