Hello,

I have a YM2000 and the the 3 point will not pick up my 5 foot finish mower. It will pick up a box blade and tiller without any trouble. Anyone know any hints to check out the hydraulics? I suspect the pump, but not real familiar with Yanmars. Thanks for any advice!

I think that is weird that it will pick up the box blade and tiller and not the mower. I'm sure there are differences in weight among mowers but my 1510 will easily lift and transport my 5' finish mower, so your bigger tractor certainly should be able to.

I hope someone else on here has had this problem and can point you in the right direction. This may be harder to diagnose than if it wasn't lifting anything.

Have you cleaned the hydraulic pickup screen? That 3ph should either lift the implement or the front of the tractor. Also make sure the 3ph servicing stop valve down by your feet is not partially closed.

Thanks for all the posts with advice! I will try to clean the screen this weekend.

I bought a new screen from Hoye. It was a simple job to replace and it will now lift it up, but you have to really turn up the rpm to get it to lift, and it lifts very slow. Do you think this warrants still replacing the hydaulic pump? Thanks for the advice

Well, there is something still wrong i would say. As I said earlier, my smaller tractor picks up a 5 ft RFM easily. Did you check that your valve for your 3ph was completely open?

Did you use the correct hydraulic fluid, (universal hy/tran= to or better than JD303)? It should lift it at an idle.

I agree with the others.. Either the pump is weak or bypassing, or the relief is bypassing too soon ( doubtfull ), or the hyd cyls is leaking.

Next thing i would do is a pressure check..

Do you have a little valve on the side of your lift housing? If so, try moving it to the forward or aft possition to see if that makes a difference..

I checked the spec on the fluid. The can says it meets JD J20A, J14B, C (303), J21A. I guess that it at least equal to JD 303.

I do have the stop valve all the way open. My tractor has the lever on the side of what the service manual calls the "spool" valve. I will try to adjust that and see what happens.

Soundguy, How would you go about doing a pressure test (special tools, etc)?

Thank you all for the help and the posts! This is a great forum!
