YM1700 Tach.

Hi guys, had my YM1700 a little over a year now, and have been reading in this forum even longer, but this is my first post. Seems every minor thing I find with my tractor, I have found a fix here,until now. While useing my tractor this weekend, the tach./ hour meter stopped working. I found the cable to it, and the engine. I took the cable loose from the back of the tach, and cranked the engine.The cable did not move, unless I pushed with my finger down on it, forceing the cable deeper into the engine houseing. Knowing I could ask here before going the wrong way, I just stopped. Is it normal for the cable to not turn without pressure on it, or is it something else. Thank you guys ahead of time, and for all the help Ive found here before.

It's something else. Why not check the other end?

Your tach drive cable is broken at the case cover end. Pushing on it makes contact between the two broken pieces causing it to 'try' and spin.

Simple fix, remove cable housing, slide out broken cable, replace and install. Good To Go.
