Yet another snow removal question - experiences needed

The FEL mounted front blade works best for me.
I use a 7' front mounted blade on the loader, goes on/off quick and easy (skid steer type QA), and works very well.

The rear blade FEL combo has worked well for me too. Depending on what I'm doing I use both at the same time, esp if I'm doing my parking area. You can move snow forward and reverse.

I use a 7' Frontier rear blade on a 3720 and a 6' on a 755.

A front blade was nice to have but I found R&R the front blade and its subframe assy just too time consuming when you have a FEL.

I'm considering a 62-66" 3 pt snowblower, just to have it around for big snows. I have a 8hp walk behind that I've had for years that has opened things up when the 755 tractor and blade couldn't.

I have a Frontier 72" blade on a boom that mounts to my Loader arms. I disconnect two cables and then pull two pins and that is it, its off in under 3 minutes - I sit it right on its storage tray and then wheel it into position for storage.

I'm in vermont too. Get a puma 54" rear snowblower. Make sure it is 6-10 inches wider than the back wheels. Don't let the salesman tell you that you don't have enough power. I've been blowing a 1700' drive with 23% grades for 15 years. It is unmatched.

I solved the R&R (Regret and Resent) problem.
Have A FEL on a BX23.
Have a Front Blade on a BX1500.

I used this setup last year. Now the rear blade has been replaced with a Metor 75" blower. The banks got so high last year that when the wind blew it drifted over as high as the banks, almost 5 ft.

The Frontier blade (front) for the 3000 series machines is really simple to attach and detach. I can do it in about five minutes including positioning the blade. The only problem is the blade weighes a ton and is hard to store when not in use. (It takes up a lot of garage space--which I do not have). I have found the Frontier blade to be a nice option for the tractor, but it will occasionally cause the front of the tractor to slide sideways when the blade is angled and with downpressure. I have, at times, found it difficult to modulate the downpressure on the blade for this reason. I hate to beat the "dead horse" but strictly for snowplowing, I would take a UTV and front plow combo over any tractor.

I have a 47" showthrower and 54" hydraulic angle blade for my 455. I prefer the blade unless it get deep. With the blade and down pressure it will really scrape well. Problem is, the whole setup is a biit small. I do use the blower for the sidewalk between our buildings.


I have a 66" bucket and 72" rear blade on my 3720. The rear blade is used to pull snow away from the buildings and to scrape down the main drive where needed.

Rear Blade:
The problem with the rear blade is that when you pull snow away, you end up backing up through the snow that you just moved, This can be pretty tough, especially if the snow is wet. Also, the tractor is driving on uncleared drive so spinning can be an issue.

Loader:
Works pretty well, but it's hard to push far. Great for stacking

I've gone back to a Boss V plow on my truck. A vee plow is an awesome tool. I've even considered one for my tractor. I think it's far more efficient to push the snow with a front blade as you are driving on cleared surface and can angle to roll the snow.

I have a boss V on the front of my 110, but the backing and pushing is way slower than the 84 inch blower. I just wait ( as right now) until the stom is done and Voila! i am out in an hour even with 2feet of snow.

How about this monster? I actually considered it as the listing started out with only a $2500 buy it now and it wasn't that far away (80 miles) . There's nothing nicer than a warm cab with a plow but it's especially nice with a snow blower. If it could have been titled it would have been a good price for a 4x4 vehicle with a utility bed. But when it came down to it that yr/model was known for rust and I didn't want another vehicle to store.

BTW just bought a 68" Meteor for my 3720. That'll assure that we won't get much snow this year.

Remember that New England is full of old Fisher plows and they usually run from $200-$500 for plow and a frame. We make the adaptors to hook up Fisher plows to JD FEL . I have posted a picture to see one in action!

Just hook up two hoses to your distibution block and your plowing in 5 mins! Take it off and move snow with your bucket again 5 mins, slickest setup on the market today .

When you say "We make", do you mean you have a business selling the frames to mount to the loader or that you made them for your tractor?

Yea we fabricate the adaptors for Fisher Plows to JD tractors . These are first class set up that mates the two togeather . You still need two hoses approx 13 ft long to run the lower cly on the plow frame. Total time to hook up is about 3 mins! Then if you need the bucket back on its about 5 mins and you can be using the bucket . Slickest setup going. Hooks up the best plow to the best tractors. If you want to see one plowing 2 ft of snow go to youtube and type in JD with Fisher Plow and you can see one working!

Yep same here. I got mine sitting on 2 of those cheap Home Depot furniture carts and that seems to work fine. It allows me to move it around without any difficulty as the carts have wheels.
