A couple of the bushes we planted this year produced yellow tomatoes - - something neither my wife nor I was familiar with. Stupid me, sorta thought they would eventually turn red. We were talking to her mom in Florida & she was bragging about her tomatoes, including some yellow ones. Well, duh!

Since then, we've had a couple of them, they're pretty good. I don't know if I would have picked yellow on purpose, but OK, now that they are here.

The variety name was Early Bush. They did produce sooner than my other bushes.

Well, I think that you are lucky. Even if they are yellow. Mine are only about the size of a hens egg and smaller. The cherries are looking full though. Can't wait for them to turn. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

My mother was always crazy about yellow tomatoes. I could never figure it out. It seems they have less acidity and some folks like that better. For me, I will take a double dose of acidity in those big ole red ones.

Nice looking tomato plant your green thumb is growing there.

You're right, sassafraspete, it was less acidic than the red ones. Guess that's why said it was OK, but not delicious. Still beats what you get at the store.
My normal-looking reds just getting ripe. We are about to be broke out in tomatoes.

My tomato plants have grown a foot in the last week, but tomatoes are only size of golfballs. I have a new all american winner planted this year called sugary hybrid...which is a small grape type tomato. Those things are loaded with bloom. Can't hardly wait to try them out. Yes...the first ripe tomato is a defining moment in anybody's garden. Nothing like cutting a 1 inch slice off of one of those big beefs, and slapping it on a sandwich.

When my grandfather got ulsers, the doctor told him to switch to yellow tomatoes or eat no tomatoes at all.

We have little yellar tomaters. They're minature pear shaped, all volunteers, keep coming back each year.

The biggest problem we seem to have with them is in getting them from the garden to the kitchen table.

I've never seen anything like it. Someone will start for the kitchen with a handfull and we're lucky if they arrive with one or two. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

They are sweet and delicious.
