Yellow jackets--start trapping soon!

Richard,
Rescue has two different types.
The kind you have, and another that uses a cotton ball treated with the attractant. We are trying them both.
One in the front of the house, and one in the back.
Haven't caught anything yet, probably because of the rain, and the recent drop in temperature.
But I did kill about 3 dozen wasps/yellow jackets with a wasp spray on Saturday.

Hey, thanks for the reminder. Nice to know about the Queen also. Last weekend I noticed several wasps lurking around all the new farm equipment. It seems that tractors and implements have an unlimited supply of prime wasp real estate.
Has anyone else noticed that after one season you might as well toss that wasp trap and buy a new one. I have purchased the replacement scent and set out the traps only to have them totally ignored by the wasps. I usually set out three traps each year.
For the wasps that don't get trapped, I wait by my small yard pond with a medium sized aquarium net. Once they land to get a drink it's pretty easy to just trap them under the net and take my leather glove and squish them. I have been doing this for several years and haven't even come close to getting stung. It seems that the ones that escape the net, just happily fly off in the other direction. They don't seem to want to protect their water supply

I like the sticky traps, they work well down here.
