Somewhere, sometime ago, there were some conversations about a yardbox that "rotated". Smooth with it on one side, reverse it, put the scarafiers /w3tcompact/icons/crazy.gif into the ground. I have made some casual attempts to search the internet for these, have perused through Carver for them also. Either I don't know what I am looking for, or they are not that common. Any ideas on website to find these items?

Thanks

Richard, I don't guess I know what a "yardbox" is. Are you, by any chance, talking about what I know as a "roll over boxblade" or are we thinking of two different implements?

Yes, I just reviewed Carver, and I guess it is more accurately called a Box Blade. Pardon my (typical) ignorance /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif.

Well, if it was ignorance, I suffer from the same affliction./w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif I've never used a roll over box blade, but I did look at one, and I think I'd have it instead of the regular box blade I have, if I could afford it. I've never heard anything bad about them (except the price); only good. Maybe one of these days . . .. It really would be nice if the terminology were standardized; like the "rotary cutter, shredder, brush hog , or Bush Hog (which is really a brand name), or whatever they're called in your area". And of course, tractors and implements are not the only place we have the problem. I work on air tools and all impact wrenches and ratchets have an "anvil" unless they're a Snap-on product, in which case they have a "drive body". Some have "vanes" and some have "rotor blades" in the motor, etc. Reckon it's just to keep us on our toes?/w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Look in a Woods catalog or website. They bought Gill and Gannon. They make a roll over box blade. They are good. They are heavy (800#) and they are more expensive than the manual boxblades which run from $400-$1400 and up). I like the roll over box blade, but will have to settle for the manual one since it cost about $1150 for a 9 scarfier B259 Gill 77 inches wide manual model and weighs 755#.

The corresponding rollover is a GIL R25 $1236 for a 77 inch and weighs 860#. Hope that helps. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif The biggest differences in price is the construction which translates to heavier weight. My first boxblade I had was 6 ft and weighed 300# and cost about $500. It was not heavy enough to be very useful for me and got very little use.

Curious how you got all of the prices? I have been to the Woods website and never saw any. Would love to see comparitive list prices on attachments so I know what the practical ones are. Don't want to fall in love with the $2,000 unit when the $500 would probably have worked for me.

When I bought my tractor, I got agreement from the dealer to sell me implements at no more than he had sold them to others for one year. I just call him and he quotes a price. My dealer will give good advise on the best implements for the money, which stand up well, and give me a quick range of prices for several models. Sure takes the guess works out since some of the local dealers that will ONLY quote list prices and then only in person - then haggle on a price until their third quote is still too high - but I don't buy any more implements from them now.

Figure about $1.20 to $1.50 per pound will get you in the ball park. Heavier is better and usually also more expensive, but they work! A box blade that bounces on the ground is not quite as good as a weighted piece of 8 inch channel or a couple of 5 inch heavy wall pipes pulled behind the tractor, so be sure it is heavy enough for your job. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif
