Yanmar VIO 40-2 Excavator

Hi Guys,
I recently bought a Yanmar VIO 40-2 (2002 4t ) Excavator and i'm having trouble identifying the Diesel motor that's in it as there are no owners manual etc included .

Its the standard original motor with no mods and im just trying to find the service items and manuals ...

This listing indicates it could be a 3TNE88?? Yanmar VIO 40, VIO 40-2 w/Yanmar 3TNE88 Eng. Filter Service Kit | eBay Thinking most yanmar engines have an identification tag on them, maybe up on the rocker arm cover? Welcome to the forum. :welcome:

I don't know if you can help but ....

If i run my engine at near peak power rpm it will eventually stumble and stop ! all the filters are clear and full of fuel, the only thing i can guess at is the fuel return pipe from the is VERY hot ! and maybe the fuel is vaporizing ? ... If i leave the engine to idle for a while or turn it of for a while then it runs good again (for a while and then stumbles and tries to stall again) ... if i Knock the rpm's down it will run all day with no issue but has less hydraulic power which is obviously not what i want ..

Can any body help ?

Sure don't have an answer for you but wondering where your heat gauge is reading or does it have a warning light?

temp gauge reads fine until i run on the higher rpm and then it starts to rise ... when i back the motor off it falls again ...

When it starts to rise does that mean it approaches over heating? Do you think your cooling system is in good condition? Outer and inner radiator tubes clean? Fan belt tight? Thermostat opening properly? Just putting this out there for consideration, probably not the cause of your problem.

Did you read over the trouble shooting section of the service or operators manual? I scanned it but didn't see anything listed with your particular problem.
