Yanmar RS1200 Tiller Question

Does a YM147D have sufficient power to use a Yanmar RS1200 48" tiller? There is a RS1200 for sale locally at far too high a price ($900) and it really might not be worth the effort to get it down to an appropriate price. That said, if the seller does accept a reasonable offer, will the 147D have sufficient power to operate the tiller? Thank you.

I paid $200 for my RS 1400. Including an extra set of new OEM (claimed) tines.

My little YM186D, 18 engine hp, barely manages the RS 1400. If I have to climb from tilled up on to firm ground, I can't let the tiller in back dig in or it will stall the tractor. I hope this comparison will give you something to compare your proposed 147 / RS1200 against. To me, that sounds marginal to unworkable.

For that price or anything near I think you could find a tiller better matched to your 147.

Rule of thumb for implement usage is 5hp/ft, at the pto of course. That's a 4ft tiller & recommendations are 20hp. You have a 10-11 HP at the pto, I think that tiller will be to much for that tractor. A 15hp pto may be able to handle it at a very low ground speed, but yours will struggle or stall like California said. As for the price, here in Nebraska that's about the going price, I don't know about your location. Yanmar tractors & yanmar equipment is scarce here. Good luck.

I agree a little to much tiller for the tractor. However, some speak of removing tines therefore making a smaller tiller. Tillers are expensive.

I agree with California and that sounds like a asking price. You can go down on the price but it's kind of hard to go up. Just have to keep looking and watching. I was lucky and found a 1400 at Fredricks. 675.00$ with new tines. It worked great just didn't have the leveling wheels which I was assured I probably didn't need them with my 2000 and was true.

I have a Case 1845C skid steer that could handle a tiller on the front. At 57 HP it has more than enough ooomph to handle a six foot tiller. I really enjoy this little Yanmar and for the most part it does what is needed as well as mows. It's in very good shape. It sounds as though this is a job better matched for the Case. Thanks.

That welding is to move the 3-point pins forward for use with an ordinary top link. Yanmar's special top link assembly, or this modification, are needed so the tiller won't hit the tires when lifted. This doesn't indicate a problem. Driveshaft included? If not, that can add quite a bit to installed cost.

I need to make that same mod to move pins forward on the little back blade that came with my first YM186D, so I can use it with the Qhitch.
