YM3110

This Gray Market import came from California and refurbished with safety hardware. It's been badge as a Zen-Noh to keep it off the Gray Market import radar. There is a long detailed history on the web with Mr. Mike Wallace and importing a huge number of Gray Market machines to North America. Wallace International Trading incorporated in 1984.

Continuing with the 3T84 engine with tweaks to the air intake and fuel system, the Hp will rise a tiny bit. It is surprising to notice the wide Hp range of this engine. With the many parts manuals, it would be easy to determine a low ended Hp machine to convert to a higher Hp machine. This engine later will reach the 42Hp range. The engine bay layout is identical to the YM2610 with the 3T80 engine.

The YM3110 seems to use the same frame and chassis as the JD950. It shares the same dash panel, gauges and controls like it's younger sibling the YM2610. Indeed it's a -10 Series model in the line up.

The hour-rpm gauge below operates the same way for PTO performance as the YM2610. See those comments in the prior posting. This makes the machine very attractive for owners who need flexibility.

The -10 models with PowerShift are typically on the floor, in a raised housing. Much like the YM2610.

The RSC1701 is a common tiller for this model.

In this thread, some of the Yanmar models received more than just brand awareness; famous actors, Yan & Mar brothers songs, special noted features, etc. Well, the YM3110 has a unique brand awareness. It has a replica toy model made for kids or collectors.

It's a little diecast body with plastic rolling wheels.

From the Japan history Ag blogger website, the following chart for the YM3110 is listed.

Whew, about 8 or so more models go for the Yanmar YM Series. Hoping you are enjoying a bit of glamour history of your own Yanmar model.

As an FYI to this thread, should there be additional space to add new found content to the previous postings, I've already gone and added a bunch. :)

There was a posting asking if the F-FX would be next. In the past year, some information has been found, yet not enough to give it a go.

Likewise, the information for a YM US/UK Series 3-digit is sketchy. Actually rScotty should attempt that one. :giggle: He's the most knowledgeable person on those machines with the images and options. My attempt would be a dis-service to spell things out.

The YM3220 could be up next.

YM3220

In the normal Yanmar fashion, there should of been a YM3120 to compliment the YM3110. A YM3120 would of used the same engine as the YM3110, but had the -20 options. The YM3120 never made it. Yet here we are with a YM3220 with no sibling called the YM3210. One could say the YM3110 and the YM3220 are their own siblings, just a tad out of sequence. Both use the 3T84 engine. Indeed a mystery why Yanmar went this route. It's not like 1Hp would of made all that difference either.

Finding the engine ID plate was not an easy task. This image had to be enhanced just to read it.

The best images of the YM3220 came from a person who bought it from a UTDA dealer down south in the USA. Take note the side engine skirts are painted tractor red like the other panels. This aligns to the factory intent as well and not a mistake. Prior models typically had those engine skirts painted Yanmar off-white.

Additionally, this model has the JD950 looking rear fenders and the original Yanmar step up that John Deere then included in their larger 50 Series machines, then the 55 Series and 90 Series Yanmar had made as well. This is really a bent 19mm [3/4-inch] solid bar with the ends flattend and two mounting holes for large bolts to mount.

UTDA updated by owner.jpg

Here's the same YM3220 still in Japan untouched by any refurb or restoration facilities in North America. Note the UFO at the bottom from the front grill. This is very important.
The UFO becomes a very popular selling point on the FX FORTE series machines and the most sought after in Japan from any manufacture of tractors. UFO is a computerized link-up to the Yanmar tiller on the 3PT. It's much more than draft control, it handles tine rotation forwards or backward within certain tiller tine groupings, adjusts tiller tine speeds (not the PTO output), allows the tiller to curl towards the tractor or away (similar to a top-link with hydraulics) and much more.
The UFO function here is an early version. Possible less functions than the FX Series. Yet, incredible to see it here on this model.

The best image found at the time showing the UFO controls on the top rear fender.
Sorry it's just a glimpse. And notice the factory PowerSteering decal on this model.

2-34833.jpg

Like most of the -20 models comes the push dash with all the fancy gauges and controls.
This image is a rare one as it shows a clear view of the center console. Most of the time images are taken with the steering wheel in the way.

The other dash gauges. Shift is on the column too.

In Japan, the YM2500 model frame and up could use the canopy open cab. Here is a YM3220 with one. Also take note of the divider wall behind the seat. Some of the US YM Series came with this wall as well. A Yanmar tool box mounts onto it. Often we see this tool box in the Parts Manuals.

YM3220--YM4220.JPG

Out of all the Yanmar -20 models, this is one of the ideal machines to own. Only the more rare to us here in the USA is the YM4220 with the Turbo that is probably the best of all the -20 models Yanmar ever made.

If I had to pick a YM model with all the loaded features, it would be the YM3220 or YM4220. These two are the last of the -20 model family. The icing on the cake actually.

Here's the BONUS. The 3T84 engine used is also used in the YM336.
See attachment for the engine parts manual as a good reference. It will show what is shared and what is slightly different.

Both are PowerShift, yet the YM336 has the controls on the floor like the YM2610.

Additionally the YM276 with the 3T84 engine has a Service Manual free on the web. Another good reason why the YM3220 is a smart choice to own.

YM3320 cont.

Some interesting finds for this model.

There is a refurb outfitter of Yanmars in WA state. Due to a legal agreement, they name the machine YNM3220 and paint them Mitsubishi blue. It almost looks like a Mitsubishi D Series.

YM3220 IN MITSUBISHI BLUE.png

They say to AVOID any used tractors coming out of VN. Including Yanmars.
I wonder why? Let's look at a modified VN YM3220

It's the drive backwards machine. Notice the 4WD wheels are the same for front and rear, thus the lead and lag is even. A bit clever on their part.

About 7 more models to go. And then a few I had missed between to complete this thread. Stay tuned. :) Glad to have you along.

YM3810 intro

This model is the last of the YM--10 in Series. If a person reviews the YM2610 mentioned earlier, there are many traits carried over to this machine with one single difference, the engine is the 3T84T.

The ending T in the engine ID represents TURBO. It's the IHI RHB6.
Yanmar p/n 121252-18010 for our era and 6T-515 for the current era of this posting.

The manufacture of these turbos is IHI. And the turbo back then is still in production today because it's just too awesome to retire. IHI has a strong American presence, thus getting a replacement is really easy. A bit of the company history here:

The IHI RHB6 is generally found on the Yanmar 3T84T, 3T84T-N, 3T84TJ, 3T84-T, 3T90-TJ engines. People have taken the turbo and applied it in the same manner to the 3T80 with great success.
Note; all the engines mentioned here are of the sleeve cylinder types and not the earlier non-sleeved versions of those engines. The sleeved engines can take the additional increase in pressure and generated heat.

The ID plate and air side intake.

YM3810

There are no images on the web at this time showing the 3T84T engine. I had spend a few hours hunting. It would be great to see it from a few positions.

nice machine in Japan.

The machine looks great, the tiller has seen better days.

The layout is like the YM2610 in every way.

dash-yanmar-ym3810-9488.jpg

Same gauge as the YM2500, YM2610 and other higher Hp YM machines.

389-yanmar-ym3810-9487.jpg

Same PowerShift, Gear selections with creeper, brake pedals, accelerator bar, and diff-lock.

Same Multi-speed or Multi-select PTO. See YM2610 for details of hand operation.

T-Data info is not accurate, don't use it as a fact sheet. We have found errors over there. It's more of a good start reference. :)
