I know they say 2 cylinder Yanmars sound like they knock. But mine REALLY sounds like it's knocking when I start it up. It last for about 30 seconds then when it gets running it sounds A LOT better. Any advise is greatly appreciated.

Change your Oil and Filter 15-40 Diesel and run it. It will most likely get better.

Does your YM1300D have a decompression cable? If so, try starting the engine normally that way. This would take the higher presure off the engine at startup running.

I had a JD-850 that had a really bad knock. The throttle governor rod was hung up in the lower end of the block. In a short time, the engine blew.

If your still letting fuel in it through that TS. I bet it doesn't sound very good when you start it. Check Hoye's site there's good info on cold starts. If you now where yours is just wait for your Oil light to go out before releasing it. That should hold down the noise.

102 hours!!! HAHA maybe 1102 or 2102 hours!!!

Yours may have a really cold knock. Try some power service addative (silver bottle) in it and see if that quiets it up some. If it was bearings that were bad it would not quiet up.

I have never run one of those but i would say Dont chance it.
First i would put a real gauge on it and see what the oil pressure is.
Pull pan and check the bearings. Clean the oil pickup.
Might be it is just a little advanced on timing but i would check all the options.

I had an old 6.9 ford that knocked like that and it had 3 bad injectors.

On a cold start when your using the Decompression just count how many Sec. it takes for your light to go out. On my Org. 2000 it takes a count of 4-5 using One-Thousandth's and that's when it's sat for months. From what I've had others that seen and heard it run, the replies are "that was really quick". Faster their Refurbished Etc.:D I only use the factory setup and I'm not changing my 35-40 yr. old tractor. I've had no problems using. IMO. If you can't see a "BIG BRIGHT RED LIGHT" come on or start flashing on the Dash then there's no way your see a Needle Drop On A Gauge. I don't want to be riding around all day staring at a Oil Gauge. When it starts running rough and you do finally look at it. It could be to late and that's even using a Light.:2cents:
