Yanmar equivalent???

All, with parts availability becoming more limited for the John Deere 650, yanmar made, does anyone know the close approximation to the Yanmar brand tractor. Kudo's to all you Yanmar operaters out there that take the time to respond back. When I had the Yanmar 1300, I would receive feedback sometimes instantly, now that it is gone and I have a JD, posting feedback on the John Deere site is not even close to what you guys do.

Seems like we actually need a friend in the JD parts department to offer the closely guarded secret of what models interchange with Yanmar.

From accidental discovery, items like ignition switches, front lamp assemblies and wiring harness do interchange with a variety of Yanmar models...but the good stuff, like head gaskets and engine components and not too long ago, the ability for a JD parts person to substitute Yanmar for out of stock JD by cross referencing is all a big mystery.

Often considered the 'Coffee & Donuts' approach for the parts department in exchange for a long glance at their books...or a hidden mini-Minolta camera palmed from view LOL.

Short answer: Sorry, I don't know what Yanmar's cross to the JD 650.

YM1602 is very close, except the Yanmar is a 3 cylinder and I think the JD is a 2 cylinder. Loader mounts will basically interchange, back half is extremely similar. I think the 1602 had more PTO gears, so there are certainly differences. Side by side though, it is clear they share a lot.

The JD650 is a spec engine. It was not used by Yanmar. I am able to cross Yanmar #s to JD#s & JD #s to Yanmar #s, but only use it when I have a parts request for a hard to find part.

Thanks all, I appreciate the input. Here is what I have, a great little tractor with possible parts issues. Being that we all can have this problem with Yanmar parts issues, does not make sense to trade off a good little tractor, worrying about what might happen in the future. If I have problems, will cross that bridge when I get there. However, is there some engine parts I might want to consider buying that might be an issue later on?
