I have a yanmar 1700 for about 4 or 5 weeks now .It run hot had to put a new radiator cap on that fix that. But i did not know it didn't have a water pump on it till i saw that on here. How hard is it to put one on,And will the fan still fit were it is.And dose it cost much. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

I put one on my YM1700. It is not hard and you can use the same fan without repositioning anything. You can get a kit from Fredricks or Hoye Tractor. Each is around $300 for the kit. It is well worth it to me not having to constantly worry about whether I am over heating it.

How dose the water go in and out of the radiator when they don't have a water pump.Looks like it would have to have a water pump to move the water. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

It works just like anything else, where heat rises. As the water gets hot, it rises and the cold water goes down. Really it works very good, as long as you keep the radiator real clean. That is why, they didn't feel like it needed a pump. Mine don't get hot, as long as I keep the radiator clean. Of course if you lug it a lot, it will get hot. Of course it might get hot with a pump then also. I'm not saying a water pump is a bad idea, for its not. Its just you probably don't really need one, if you keep the water 70% and antifreeze at 30%. I live in Mississippi and it works for me here.

I have a 5 ft bushhog that i use with my big ford . Will the 1700 pull it ok.I soled the ford but i still have the bushhog.Or do i need to trade it for a 4ft.

Sorry to tell you, you really should trade it. The 4 foot one is the size you should use with the 1700. Its only about a 20 hp, and the pto is only 17hp. I'm afraid the 5 foot one, would be overloading it a bit.

I run a 5' finish mower on my Ym1700. You will have to hang some weights on front. I have a 4' bushog and wish I had a 5' one.

Yes the 5 foot finish mower is just fine. But Eddie, I know you can use a 5 foot bushog, but they rate them at 5 hp per foot, so that comes out at 4 foot. If he gets into heavy cutting, it just might be a little much for his tractor. You just overhauled yours, so it may be in a little bit better shape to. But if the cutting isn't too high, and he puts extra weight on the front, he might get along OK with it. Oh yes and be sure and get a over running clutch, or it will push you, when you try to stop.

It might be nice to have a 5' but why rush it? /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

The 4' will be much better suited for the tractor. It will fit behind the compact, you wont get it hung on trees, it wont bogg down, and you'll have more power to cut thicker stuff. Seems like a no brainer to me. My 2000 pulls a 4' because of these reasons. It could definitly pull the 5' but if I was in a hurry and needed to cut large feilds, I would have bought a 30HP MF or NH /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif..

Those are the same reasons I pull a 4' behind my 2000B. Since I reversed the rear tires, the tires are a little wider than the mower,so I use the trace chains to offset the mower to one side for getting close to fences. No problem driving the tractor between two trees only to have the mower hang up.

Plus I get that much more seat time with the 4'.

I would love to trade it for a 5'. I've never used it but twice in 3 years.
