My neighbor's dad [about 80] if giving up tractoring. He wants to sell his Yanmar 1700 [2WD] with a bush hog & a box blade. I'm not sure of the hours.

He said he thought it might be worth $3500. Does that sound about right?

Thanks,

Jack

It depends a lot on the location you are in. Prices are higher in some areas for the same thing. But before buying Check the thing out. Run it doing work. Does the clutch slip? Do the brakes work well. Does it cold start well. How are the tires. what condition is the equipment in. Some people have a high value on these things based on past service instead of current value.

Thanks Normmm, but I'm not in the market for another machine. I own a Kubota BX that works well for my place. I was just trying to get some info to help out the owner - - as I said he's over 80 & not doing well.

I hate to say it, but in the current market I think $3500 is too high, unless everything is in near new condition. We sell a similar setup, 1700, box blade, mower for about $1500 more, but implements are new w/ one year warranty, tractor is a low hour unit that's as close to "like new" as we can reasonably get it, with lots of new parts installed, UTDA safety equipment (which alone accounts for nearly half of the $1500 price difference), new water pump kit, usually a new radiator, PTO dyno tested, etc, with 6 months warranty... and in the current market they're not exactly flying out the door as fast as we'd like. I agree with the previous poster that it varies a lot by area however....and of course, it's easier to come down on price than go up...so I don't want to talk you out of trying to get the best deal you can... but I think he may be disappointed by the response he gets at $3500. I hope I'm wrong...best of luck!

Thanx Prodaddy, I'll let him know. I assume he bought his equipment used, & it is definitely not 'like new'. He has so many health problems right now that selling his tractor is not near the top of his priorities.

Did you notice:confused:
This was 3 yrs ago

I think someone was clicking those threads that pop up at the bottom of the page when reading another thread. My guess is that someone was reading about one of the other 1700 posts that are current and this one poped up and that guy clicked it not realizing that those are all related posts regardless of age. I did it a few times when i first got on this board!! And still did it a year or so more after i knew about it!!!
