Fredricks is another source for parts.

The steering box on YM2000 was from some company that also supplied Kubota and Datsun, so those channels might be sources for your YM155. Some internal parts such as the sector shaft were shared across many models.

Do you see a brand name cast into the steering box? You might find parts on Ebay searching on that brand name.

Have you tried Yanmar-USA? That's a legitimate US model, they might be able to order what you need.

Did you inquire at Hoye or just look on line?

Verify with whomever that it is correct for your tractor.

How do you know Hoye does not have it?

Hoye indicated there was a change after serial number 51000. Their recommendation was take the shaft to a machine shop to have teeth built up and machined

Assuming the available aftermarket part is for serial # above 51,000 why not check with the Yanmar Authorized Parts Dealers for your OEM part? I recommend getting a parts manual for the part # of your "old-style" part, before contacting the hundreds of dealers.

Production discontinued. That does not mean it is not sitting on someones shelf.

thanks for the link. I was all set to order this, thinking this had to be the weak link in the steering system but when I opened it up I was surprised the steel teeth were broke off

I have received several sources (thanks) hopefully one of them will have the shaft. I wish I knew the change between the pre and post 51000 serial number; if the post 51000 serial number column/gearbox would fit my tractor, it might save me some hassle if this happens again...

Looking at the service manual, the steering is not different. the front tread, cooling, travel speed, pto speed, and starter are the only changes. The above post on the shaft says it will fix 135 and 155. The manual shows a difference in the two. the 135 gear ratio is 15.4 to 1 where the 155 is 18.9 to 1 with a larger steering wheel diam.

Interesting, the parts manual I have shows 194340-15140 and no reference made to other sn's.

For what it is worth the repair manual shows the 155 to have 15 teeth on a full circle basis.

The complete assembly should interchange if you are able to find one. Every part of the box was redesigned after 51000 though. The sector shaft, steering shaft, the column, bearings, seal, gasket, shims, even the box casting is different. I do not think there is a single part that will interchange between the two boxes.

Western kentucky tractors has a large amount of used and refurbed parts. I just bought a input shaft for a 155d from them thats nla. Bring your wallet though.
