The nut that holds the rear wheel brake drum on... is it left hand or right hand thread?
Trying to get the drum off to see what might be the reason the wheel won't turn, but can't break the nut loose.
Thanks

Redka,

Google it, you will most likely find your answer on the threads. Most likely right, but not sure.

On another note, give it a good soaking of Blaster. That stuff works great on frozen bolts and nuts.

Thanks. Already gave it some PBB. Will try again with a bigger wrench and longer pipe lever.

You don't say what model you have.

None of the ATVs I have had use left hand threads on the rear axles, and I have had all the majors
except Can-Am.

If you are trying to remove the nut on the end of the axle (after removing the cotter pin), then
those are rarely tight, and "always" RHD.

If you are trying to remove a jam-nut in the middle of the axle, then you will probably need
to heat it first. These are huge nuts, often set with thread-locker. I use a 2-foot adjustable
wrench, and a homemade wrench for the lock nut. Even that does not loosen them without
heat first.
