XR3037H rotary tiller questions

I'm looking to purchase a rotary tiller this weekend. The dealer has suggested a Land Pride RTR1274 ($2500-3000). Specifications say it'll work. I'm looking to see what others might be running on their XR3037's, how well it's working, etc.

That price seems kind of high to me, I don't know a lot about the Land Pride but there seems to be others out there of good quality for a lot less. I see you are in Indiana, If you have a Rural King store near by you could check there. They carry King Kutter brand and also have a 12% off sale going on until Saturday.

There is a Rural King pretty close. They didn't have much in stock. I'd have to order it which isn't an issue either. I was curious if the HP rating of the tractor would handle a 35HP rated tiller. There seems to be a wider variety of tillers rated just over what my tractor is. I may need to look at some other other brands as well.

I would think a tiller rated for 35 and under would still be fine with a 37 HP tractor
Your tractor has 37 horse power doesn't it?

It does; 37 on the tractor and 29 on the PTO. I hate to spend that amount or even part of that amount and come up short. Some of the tiller's seem to mix PTO and tractor HP. I'll do some more research and give it my best shot. If nothing else I'll be able to do a review.

Should be fine, you have HST. You can always slow down if it bogs. I run a 50" on my JD 455 garden tractor (<20 pto hp). If you're worried, step down to a 66" ish which will still cover your tracks.

My 'test' run ended up being more like an acre. It's a 6' KK tiller, forward rotating. I had previously been running a sub-soiler through the field. The tiller did a good job leveling the humps, etc. back down. It was a little damp in a couple of areas so stopped for the day. The rain is coming this week so that may be it until next month. It bogged down a few times but not enough that I would be worried about running it. It did good tilling up the sod as well as last years field space. I'll try to attach a couple of pictures.

I have the same tractor and I have a 6’ tiller with a minimum horse power of 35. I have no problem using it at all. People said it was just to big and that I should get a 5’ but I took a chance and have been running it for 2 years now without any problems.

I recently took delivery of a new XR4155. My first project was a three acre food plot with my KK 6' tiller. I was impressed with the combination, moreso with the tiller. I have had the tiller for 8 or 9 years and have used my old JD1520 previously. I set the old KK tiller as deep as it would go and it more than proved up to the job. Love that brand.
