x749 wont run with fuse in

mowed today and when done opened hood and took side shields off to blow grass clippings out with leaf blower.
mower was idling and about when almost done with blower it shut itself off. key on but no hourmeter, gauges, starter wouldn’t try to engage when turning key, completely dead.
started pulling fuses and checking them, all looked good. could turn headlights on but again no hourmeter, gauges or trying to turn over.
in my messing i pulled fuse f1 (top one) with key turned on and dash lit up, gauges returned to normal and could start it. runs fine. (besides having no headlights).
put f1 fuse back in and it dies immediately with no dash again. keep fuse out and it starts right up. sigh.
so, need some advice on what could possibly be my issue.

Unplug and plug in the 2 relays that are above the fuse box. Just making sure those have good connections.

You need to check the fuse location with a volt amp meter and see if you have voltage on both sides one side, etc. You also need to check the back of the fuse panel for corrosion. You have a short somewhere in the fuse panel location of that fuse that is only present when the fuse is inserted. Removing the fuse removes the short. I am surprised the fuse is not blown.

The thread is several years old, but the guy is still active. You could join and then ask if he could send you a copy of the wiring diagram.
