X748 54" deck speed

Recently purchased mulching blades at my Jd dealer ( think they were gators) and I am not really happy with the cut. It leaves streaks in taller grass. Is it possible to increase the blade speed on the yellow 54" deck? I'm thinking I should have gotten the 7 iron, but that's water under the bridge now. The stock blades seem to have had a cleaner cut with a faster travel speed.

I find the gator blades are more robust and last for a longer period of mowing time, but I have gone back to the regular lift blades for a better cut. Hi-lift blades were not the answer either. My gator blades just collect dust.

As well, at certain times of the year and with certain species of grass, getting a clean trim on the grass that gets tramped down by the front tires just doesn't happen.
I've come to the conclusion that the best remedy is to mow more often, in my 50+ years of tractor mowing experience.
