X534 rear wheel hub failure

Deere had some problems with older 316, 317, 318 era tractors where wheel weights were added and tractor was used in area with lots of directional changes. There was just enough play in the splines to allow the hub to slowly fret or wear away the splines till tractor stopped moving. Not sure how the X5** series compare in design to those older units.

The splines were still good and tight, and as I mentioned, I had to use a gear puller to get the stub shaft pressed out of the hub. It did fit the new hub really well with no play in the splines.

I bought 2 x 50 lb wheel weights for my "new to me" 1987 JD430, but have been reluctant to install them due to way better traction than what I had been expecting!

Just wondering if there has been any reports of similar issues in 430 ?

I have had 300# of weights on the back of my 430 that has a snow blower on the front for 25 years, and have never had a problem. That is an entirely different setup than the AWS tractors use.

I did get the tractor put back together last Tuesday, buy didn't get any pictures. My cousin was in a hurry to get it back together so he could get his yard mowed before we got some possible rain showers.
It all went together fine. I Pressed the hub out of the used knuckle, pressed the new wheel bearing into his knuckle, installed the snap ring and then pressed the hub into it. It all fit together fine, and we also adjusted to tie rod going to the left rear wheel, as it was not tracking properly.Talked to him later and he said it works just fine.
He did have to get a hub and knuckle assembly off Ebay, as JD had none of the hubs anywhere in their system, and had no idea when they might have one. It was off an X300 series, but the hub was the same. Probably used on several of the AWS tractors.
