Hi -
I'd like to hear from anyone who has used the Wunderbar system from Woodward Crossing. I have a couple of hiller discs from them along with clamps but haven't done anything with them (yet). In particular, I want to know how the undercutter/"carrot lifter" attachment seems to work. The modularity of their system seems pretty neat.

Thanks for your response but I'm not clear on what you're saying about the tools or if your unit was from the Woodward Crossings folks (called Wunderbar) or if it was the unit from AgriSupply (Keulavator?)

The 3 pt portion in the box does look like the unit from Woodward.

So, I do have one and lots of pieces and parts of it but unfortunately I have not used it yet. I don't have anything close to the carrot lifter. (With my soil and rocks, I don't think it would work well). I have 2 rows and arms for a third row that I might throw on another tool bar. I'm bad about "collecting" pieces and parts; good deals from Craig's list. Gauge wheels and a tool bar and a couple of Gangs for $100. I think, I have 5 tool bars!!! I use them as extra weight on my box blade.

Once I retire, I'll figure it all out. The problem is I work in agriculture so I'm busy at work during the time I need to work on this setup... One thing I know for sure, the unit is very heavy. I had no idea about Wunderbar but it looks just like what I have.

I can take some photos next time I'm up at the farm, hopefully next week...

This was your primary request, which I responded to. My toolbar cultivator is from Woodward Crossing.

You show a Kubota 8540 as your tractor. Rather a heavy tractor relative to the compact tractor TPH Category 1 implements Woodward Crossing sells.

Buckeye Tractor is another vender to consider:

I can't do much about my tractor as I need it for the rest of my farming operation.

So what is your opinion of the toolbar carrier from WC?

And thanks for the other source. I've not heard of Buckeye Tractor.

Can't speak to the quality of the Woodward Crossing as I eventually went with one from Tilmor, but Tilmor, Buckeye, and Woodward Crossing all use a 2" square tube for the toolbar so only practical differences are likely to be price, weld quality & aesthetics.

The way I understand it the bed lifters work by pulling the cutting bar under mature root crops causing the soil (& crop) to lift, drop and fracture the soil so root crops can more easily be harvested by hand. Not sure how well the concept would work in all soil types/conditions (I haven't had the best of luck with root crops in the clay-ish loam I have here so I haven't had a need to try one).

Clayish loam? How about clayish clay? Tried a ground drive potato digger once and had volleyball sized chunks of hard clay bounding on the digger chain. We have little precip in the summer and lately (last 15 yrs) it runs longer into the fall (late Sept/Oct) so the ground is brutally hard. Even the big fellas using 400HP tractors are having a hard time using their no-till drills for wheat without some soil moisture.

Thanks.
