How about using your teeth as a wire stripper? I don't do it as often any more, but I used to use my front teeth when stripping 14 ga or less wire (not romex). Every once in awhile would get a surprise by how tough the insulation was.

Had a little carpenter job off-site where I needed a hammer that was forgotten. Found out through trial and error that a pair of large Channel Locks makes a pretty good hammer in a pinch.

The head of a "T" headed cane makes a pretty good tack hammer plus a very effective door knocker!

As a teenager whenever I needed a fancy "dealer" tool I would substitute a hammer or cutting torch as required to get the job done. I almost got my Darwin award nomination one day when I was under one of my projects and I decided to remove a brake line with the torch. Fortunately the flaming brake fluid hit me in the torso and not the face. I was able to roll around in the snow to put myself out.

I use what I need to to get the job done. But I started to really like Mac with OSX, not sooner. The thing about Mac is - it just works, period. But there are no database tools for Mac out there and that really sucks.

I used my floor jack to lift my 12 x 16 ft shed on to cinder block pillars. I then backed my flat deck homemade trailer under it, lowered it onto the trailer and drove it 150 ft further back. I reversed the process to get it off the trailer.

Everyone is guilty of this... I must have 6 or 8 good quality oil filter wrenches, rachets, etc. in the garage. Sometimes a 10 inch screwdriver is the only tool that works.
